I have always looked upon the TT footrest with envy and wanted to do something about it.
So here goes...
I bought this TT footrest plate (product number 8N2 864 891) from ebay - paid £16

I today, at about 2pm, I took the S3 8l footrest off to compare sizing. It's easy to do, with torx screw into the top of the footrest and flat head plastic bolt on the side. The full TT footrest does not fit at all as it is much wider (and over £100 from stealership).
You will notice it needs to be cut down. There are 4 overhang bits on the side where it used to sit in a TT footrest...
And on the reverse, you can see the massive overhang which will need to be trimmed to fit.
The steel is quite thick and I considered doing it myself but wanted a good finish which, ultimately, put me off as the tools necessary was a ball ache. I called around some engineering companies, went to a few hardware shops, discussed options and then got referred to a blacksmith. Immediately thought of medieval england but popped around to local guy. He said he could do it, so I marker penned around where the incisions were required and he told me to come back in an hour.
