Hey all,

So was just wondering how everyone's MPG is, im running a 58 a3 sline tdi 140 and managed to get this out of it.

Never have I even got close to this but was stuck behind really slow traffic for 20 minutes and thought id see what she could do, was really impressed but a slight touch on the pedal would of dropped it massively.

Just wondered if anyone else gets way above the stated MPG figures? I wont be trying this again as travelling everywhere at 50mph is very boring!!

Thanks

My cycle 2 reads about 48mpg that's with 60% motorway driving and 40% round town.

How many miles do you get out of a full tank?my normally does 550-580 miles. that is inlcuded about 250-300 miles on motorway.

29.6mpg on my way home today, ****ty traffic :banghead:

I usually average around 35-40, thats in a 1.6FSI

I've tracked 8,049 miles on fuelly.com and I'm averaging 47.2 at the moment. I can easy get 60ish on the motorway, but I don't think it's at all accurate. Only way to get an accurate figure is brim to brim and note the miles.

29.6? That's what the S3 does lol.I'll have your road tax tho....
Mine's around the 28mpg mark after a few RR runs, and a couple of thousand miles with full boost available.

After around 4000 miles im averaging around 26mpg in the s3.... 60/40 motor and town driving

My cycle 2 reading is 50mpg, think i need to put my foot down more . Do you guys find that any speed over 75 the mpg drops a lot? I know the standard map is probably designed that way and i guess other maps might change it but i dont know as never had experience of mapping the car.

I would love an s3 but dont think i could handle the pain in my wallet!!

I know lad, it seems very hard on the juice for a 1.6

It's due a service in the next few weeks so hopefully I'll see some improvement after that

Guys, I've asked this elsewhere on here but having seen a figure of 29.6mpg above for an S3, can anyone advise if this is fairly standard? I'm struggling at the moment; a few mechanic friends have all said that my fuel economy will improve as the car runs in; I've only just ticked over 1200 miles. Please tell me it will?! It's dire at the moment!!

My "2" average on the DIS is 26.4mpg, which to be fair is mainly from driving around town with a DSG 'box. Taking it easy at 60mph on long motorway trips, I can break into the 36-37mpg zone - but no more unless the weather is warmer.

Mine's much the same (same engine). Less economical than my previous 05 Jag XJ 2.7 TDVi but road tax is cheaper. At least petrol is cheaper - oh hang on, super unleaded.

The engine does loosen up over several thousand miles, and remapping can allow you to use torque rather than your right foot, but as an example, mine managed over 36mpg on the crawl in this morning.

Audi 3.2 DSG driven at speed limits, up to speed as smooth as possible 34.6 mpg. This is a 35 mile trip into London I do daily. A roads then M4 for 10 junctions then 15 mins in town to Hammersmith. Driving to work in a hurry same journey 24.1. All trip counters reset before journeys commenced.

04 Tdi, not had it long.
But get 60-62 on my daily 20 mile commute.

Trip 2 is 51.9. There's another with no number that's 51.
What are these?

And this is the norm after a 55 mile motorway journey @ 65mph

I've read and heard lots of stories about the DPF, hope its something I never have to deal with. MPG good after though :sm4:

Sorry about the size of pics, didn't realise! Sorry!

Yep, DPF is troublesome, its only meant to come on when doing the short journeys where the engine doesn't get warmed up etc, but my car lives on the motorway and I do about 600 miles per week so it shouldnt really be coming on, I put this down to the long 5th gear in the 'E' but a blast in 4th for the journey usually does the trick.

I'd usally get roughly 650 miles per tank filling it weekly.

I'll get my long range reading later on :)

Is that for your A3 I presume? I usually get about 600miles but a lot of my driving recently has been cross country and not much motorway mileage.

Whats your mpg like in your A6? It'll be interesting to see how the same engine compares mpg wise to a Q7.

Yep thats in the A3, saying that, with the A6 I would probably get 500-ish miles too (give or take a few) due to the 80 litre tank although it costs more £££ to fill it.

Actually, its not that bad - Around town, short stop-start stuff would bring around 22-27mpg. On the same journey to work it would return about 37-40mpg. Highest I have ever had it was 41.4mpg going to and from work one day.

For a heavy car with an auto box and a big V6, its not too bad IMO.

Lowest ;) First day I got the car .. That was the average over 400 miles! ;)

To a full tank (50L) I got 462 miles before red light. good? bad? thats in a 2.0L tdi se audi a3 2004.

ok and the reason why I reposted the image too is because my wee car doesnt show the info in the middle as in the photography. am i missin a fuse or is my car just not able to display it even tho it has the tiny screen there the same as this picture?

If it is a simple thing as the fuse then what is this unit called as i checked the fuse and cant seen to figure it out. cheers and thanks for any good info on this. sorry if I'm being thick!! :)

I once had a super eco run in the S3 and got 415 miles plus 35 left on the DIS. So 450 if I had the balls to keep going haha.

As I said tho.....super boring and never to be repeated!

So far my first 1000 miles in the RS3 average a very reasonable 27mpg - real tank to tank mpg. My previous Fabia VRS (1.4TSi) was averaging 38mpg real on the same journeys so this is more than acceptable in my world.

Lowest on the DIS for one journey was 24.5, lots of playing on a cross country journey. More normal cross country A road run is between 28-31 mpg on the DIS. Best I've seen yet is 35mpg on a very slow, max 60mph, in solid traffic dull and wet run on the M4. Oh and don't worry the DIS will also shown 8mpg if I just fill up, reset, and come straight home.

If you can achieve that in an S3 what's the point of having a diesel!

Computer is reading 55mpg. Haven't been driving it long so haven't gone through a full tank yet. 2.0tdi BKD.

Seem to be getting 32ish mpg on my commute in my S3 which is pretty damn good. Was getting similar in my lighter, less powerful mk5 GTI.

More importantly, why do I not see the date below the clock? Is this an option somewhere? its a 59 plate if that makes a difference.

I had an S3 and hated the petrol station, hence why I now have a TDI again! My '2' reading is 55.1mpg currently, thats over the last 10k or so miles.

I would be the same, hate the petrol station and their prices as it is!

28.6mpg on "2" for a 2.0TFSi Sportback DSG that spends 90% in town/Urban, actualy quite impressed with this as I have a heavy right foot as well.
