Got woke up this morning by my neighbour at 3 telling me shed seen a car going up and down my street and looked abit dodgy then he pulls up out side my house and rips both wing Mirrors off and then gone.not very happy, clearly targeted my car as was ent interested in any thing else.i had my van next to my car which you d expect to be the likey target but no.
after doing abit of tinterneting found out this is not uncommon for s3 wing mirrors to be targeted. Just can believe the face of some people , if I'd left it on a carpark then I would be surprised but to just walk onto my own drive just takes the ****.
Well next job is CCTV and spot lights on the front of my house , you should have to be installing CCTV !!
any ways enough moaning , we're he's ripped the mirrors off it's done quite abit of damage to what was holding the mirrors on, what am I going be expecting to pay for the repairs , silver lining at least not paint work was damaged.
The car an 07 SPrint blue s3??

Ive also heard about this lark. god help them if they try it on mine. I've already spot lighted the whole village up from my drive.

I suppose a large cost is whether they were electrc folding etc?

I so hate to read about things like this. Did the neighbour get reg no of the dodgy car? Hope you get your car sorted out soon.

Had this happen on my old '07 leon fr, they just pulled the doors mirrors off and kicked them up the street, I have a garage so now my S3 sits in it's home overnight.

kicked them!? I would have thought they would have sold them on?!

Nope, just snapped 'em off and kicked 'em 50yds up the road, found them but they were ******. Couple of nice dents in the doors too where they'd bent them fully forward.

My neighbour actually saw it, called the plod before telling me. The perps were nabbed the same morning doing another car in broad daylight, neighbour ID'd them and confirmed they were the same idiots and they got off with a slap on the wrists

Can we have a few pics to show the extent of the damage?

just a quick look on eBay brings all sorts of mirror stuff. here's some whole mirror units. Both sides are available. just need to ask him I imagine. this listing is nowt to do with me.

I might be being funny but I'm totally refusing to buy off eBay , just on the slim chance I end up buying some one else's or even my own stolen mirrors. Dropping me car off at the garage later today cause need it sorting ASAP as its used every day.( means losing couple of hours pay) As well as folking out for some new ones. Then on top of that more money for some CCTV and security lights, would love fInd the bell that took em

I think that is something everyone should think of when buying from ebay, try and make sure everything is above board before buying any parts. Sorry to hear about this, some people are just scum:(

did your alarm not go off btw? mine goes off when jetwashing it! So I think maybe someone having a good old tug on the mirrors might have set if off?

No alarm went off I ve read other threads were the same things happened and no alarm goes off. Bit of a floor really that se one can just take a piece of your car and the alarm does not sound

Dude that sucks.

I have a HD CCTV camera watching mine all time when I'm home. plus I have an Onboard HD camera that activates when it detects movement outside.

Its a sad world when we have to pay for all this security just to protect our pride and joys that we work really hard for.

Sorry to hear about this mate and hope it doesn't cost too much. Standard S3 covers still got ££££ from the dealer. Keep an eye on eBay and your local gumtree to see if your mirrors pop up. Think your neighbour could of done a bit more to get the reg number.
Personally if I witnessed a dodgy car going up and down my street I'd be right outside asking questions and telling them to f**k off out of the street. Hope its sorted asap and doesn't sting your wallet too much

Can't really hang around waiting for items to pop up on eBay as need the car. Just dropped it off at local specialist and rreplacing both for £700 fitted.:( pretty **** when when who ever nicked em props only make a few quid. Just spoke to another neighbour who has. CCTV recording all the time so he checking it for me so hopefully he ll have a reg plate.

Man thats **** dude. I always worry about mine when parking up. Some tosser stole my fog lights grills about 3 months ago. Unbelievable!

Aw no i meant keep an eye on those two as a lot of things that get stolen end up on there. A few edition 38 members have caught people who stolen their cars, stuff of their cars from them advertising them on gumtree and ebay a few days/weeks later. Fingers crossed his cctv caught some details

Is there any way of proving a set of mirrors are yours ie a code on the mirror that would correspond to the reg I the car ,???

Flame suit on.....

Is it not the AUDI community that fuels this trade in stolen parts though?

There is a huge demand for parts to carry out facelifts, replicas, conversions etc.. and the parts have to come from somewhere???
I cant believe that many A3s/S3s are written off that often.

Whats to the say that these mirrors wont end up on another unsuspecting members car as part of a conversion? As I cant see how the origin of the mirrors would be verified?

People who steal these parts are vermin of the worst kind.
But this type of crime exists because the market for parts exists.

Food for thought.....
