Initial impressions / thoughts are good.

Fairly pokey and feels solid

Steering feels quite heavy compared to my other cars (m3 and 1.8T A3)

Engine temp gauge seems to drop down to 60degs when I put the heaters on. Normal???

slight whistling noise coming from passenger side when picking up motorway speeds (prob not sealing rear window perhaps?)

Needs new wipers and I have a shed load of new brakes all round and service parts to give it a damn good going over... not in this weather though!

and I would like to give it a full scan some time soon to check its well and good.

All A ok though touch wood!

Looks nice mate :)

The temp thing is probably the thermostat or the temp sensor both are about £20 ea from the stealers the temp sensor is easiest to change and if you do it whilst the engine is cold you wont loose any coolant either. The thermostat is a bit tougher to swap but not overly difficult and you can find guides on here to help.

As for wipers i swapped all mine to Aero style that you can buy off ebay, i got 2 x front and 1 rear in a package including P+P for about £15 and they seem pretty good to me.

Nice colour. What is it called?
Those list of jobs shouldn't be too hard to DIY.

That is a tidy looking car. :)

Thanks guys. Dolphin grey apparently.

Completely bog std. But will do some tastefull changes.

First being full service and brake renewal

perhaps some eibach springs and new bushes, therm change

then ambient lighting, and a rns-e

and perhaos a revo stg 1 or an r tech map... not sure which yet

Lovely motor! And vag slag how did ur car end up like that hope u was ok mate

lovley colour mate, welcome to the world of S3's, whose is the beemer?

That's mine too. Had it over 7 years now, I love it.

Might pick up a copy of elsawin and etka going forward, cant do any work on the car as it's STILL p*ssing it down!!

Looks really nice, you chose wisely!

Check your paint code to confirm colour, Dolphin (
LX7Z) or
Mineral (LY7K).

Thanks Maz. Will do that a bit later.

Arrgh reading this forum is killing my jobs list! Sump removal, clean and replace pick up pipe now on there!

Fairly sure yours was Mineral grey dude, Dolphin grey was an S3 only colour, and mineral grey looks almost exactly the same!

Nice car dude!

Ah, was always under the impression it was dolphin grey. They say you learn something new every day!

Was the tragic result of blatantly still being drunk the morning after a heavy sesh, not really taking this into consideration and a bit of slightly enthusiastic driving. An expensive and potentially life threatening mistake :keule:

Thankfully everyone was ok tho, a lucky escape seeing as i managed to cart-wheel through a **** load of bushes/trees wrapping a fence around a telegraph pole (with out hitting it!?) in the process. . .

Anyway, don't mean to thread crash... lovely motor mate, i wish you better luck than I had with my grey A3! :icon_thumright:

Thanks Maz. Will do that a bit later.

that is one of the most important and worth while things you can do on these cars of this age!
im suprised you dont think its very flat compared to the way those m3's pull.

A couple of bits arrived today!

I must say, im not impressed at all with the badger5 billet adapter.... pitted and dented inside, where maximum smoothness is mandatory! **** poor quality. I guess wet and dry could solve it? but really... why should I

Shame about the adapter.

Nice work. Sump looks very clean. Has it been in an Audi longlife service plan like most of these cars??
Mine had, which resulted in hard baked on oil in the sump and a V clogged pick up.

So all back together now

new oil, plugs, filters, thermostat, coolant, PAS fluid, header tank

Sump off and new pick up pipe installed, new dipstick and tube also

B5 TIP and Forge 008 & powerflex dog bone

New brakes all round and new levelling sensors

Still to fit 8P gearknob, ambient lighting, fuel filter and haldex service... prob do that tomorrow

then a stack boost guage, custom a pillar and a remap! oh and an RNSE conversion

then thats IT! it is just our station hack / run around afterall!

That's not how they leave. I'll bring it to Bills attention anyway.

Did you get it from Awesome?

Mine never came like that, certainly bill wouldn't let them leave him like that. Worth getting in touch.

Guys it's all sorted, Bill sent out a replacement that arrived the next day and I sent him that one back. Jobs a good'n as they say.

I finally got around to fitting the cone filter in to the airbox for the oem look and also that pesky N249 valve bypass

I bought a 45 deg black silicone 80mm hose and an alloy joiner in preparation... I didn't need them!:keule: so if anyone needs them, shout and ill do a good deal.

Heres a few pics

N249 valve bypassed and bracket put on a bit of a diet

Wicked little thread. Wish I had an E46 M3 on my driveway to accompany my S3 too :)

I must admit, they do make a good pair. Impressed with the result of the 249 bypass! feels a lot smoother on boost! Feels very nippy now with the TIP and cone... I wonder what power its making!? Quite fancy a miltek exhaust now!

My front room is now clear of this lot

Mrs is now happy, plenty of room for her to hoover and dust now :whip:

I also had it up in the air earlier and gave it a good clean under the arches as it was rough as a badgers ****!!

G101 is a degreasant... I usually use Virisol but this is quite acidic... Virisol does work wonders though, much better than the 101.

G101 is very neutral so great for under arches, engine bays and wheels.

G101 is a multi purpose cleaner bud , can be diluted to different strengths for different applications. Really good stuff for doing arches and wheels etc .

As above !

Schlaag mate, is the cone quite loud still in the airbox? And does anyone think you would get any heat soak by modding the airbox like that?

Induction is slightly quieter than without the airbox mate. I hated it with just the cone as it was so loud!

With the airbox its a bit quieter, but still very noticeable!

RE heat soak i'm not sure. I wouldnt have thought that much. I wanted a bit more air in to the airbox than the std feed gives.

Drives very well now

Edit: if its good enough for Tuffty, then it's good enough for me!

less than one page and i see a good £500 odd worth of things i am now thinking "yeah mine could do with that [:p] " thanks a lot.... haha
looks great and i love the colour.
