Hi folks, picked up a new A6 2.0 tdi s-line yesterday and I love it. I just have a bit of a problem with voice command dialling. If I say "dial <name> home" then the MMI will call the number. If I say "dial <name> mobile" the MMI says "private number, this number is not available" and won't dial the number. Can anyone help?
Thanks

I dont know the system tbh but one assumes you've added the names/numbers into the car systems manually, so have you stored the number under the correct location, is there a private number location to utilise, maybe try storing a number under that location & see if that works.

I have occasionally have the same issues with the A7, seems to be a software bug with the phonebook reading. I would log a call with Audi and see if there any TPS's to fix this, if not get them to raise a DISS report to log the bug.

Strange thing is it shows the number, but doesn't dial it.

It is nothing to do with storing numbers Nigel, the latest MMI 3G and 3G+ systems read your phonebook automatically without having to store numbers, so it can do speech translation and directly pick numbers out of the phonebook.

Thats interesting it pulls this in properly, maybe a good reason for a new car.

So from that understanding, its intelligent enough to read the phonebook & translate the name spelling into a pre-stored name command as such, but does that require utilising the name tag stored on the handset or an audi name tag created already & translated as such, if that makes any sense at all, if so thats fairly impressive I have to say.

Thanks for the info Craig, appreciated, even if its probably now gonna cost me 30k+ to get it lol.

The SDS is far better on the 3G/3G+ systems, it understands words instead of having to spell everything out. So entering destinations is simple, you just say Manchester and not M A N C H E S T E R, and your phone book is fully accessible by names, so you simply say "Dial Home" and it will dial your home number, no tags required. If it gets multiple matches it asks you which one you want by number. 1, 2, 3 or 4 etc.

I like that, very good, obvious integrated a much better speech recognition system.

I was quite surprised tbh, when the other day when someone activated siri, it worked through the 8P's sds, shocked tbh lol.

It even works on radio stations - really impressive!

This seems to be working now, I just unpaired and reconnected the phone.
Thanks
Dave
