Been told this but not convinced..how can I tell or not?

Alright guys,basically I have a 2000 8l s3 pre facelift apy engine code,I've owned it a couple of month,when I bought the car the guy claimed it was around 300bhp mark which I wasn't really expecting,but it does have all the usual mods,3"downpipe(I think) decat and resonated miltek,drilled air box and pipercross panel filter and remap(not sure which one but it's quite aggressive when turbo kicks in)standard inter coolers,but he also said it had ko4 turbo,is hard to see anything in the engine bay let alone seeing the turbo,is there any way of getting to it or seeing it without stripping the engine bay?

Not really fussed if it's not I'd just like to know for certain if I'm going to order silicone pipes and stuff.

It wont be 300bhp mate. Itll be around 250/260 with those mods if it does have those mods. Also all s3's come with ko4 turbos.
 
Cheers mate,I always thought it was the bam engine s3 that came with k04? Mines the apy 210bhp model,have I read wrong?

I wasn't expecting it to be 300bhp,think the guy was just saying that as a selling tool but I'm not fussed,I just wanted to know the car was fine as I travelled miles to get it. :)
 
Mine was sold to me with 267bhp with just an amd remap and forge dv. On paper i think thats possible at least

Yes I was under the impression that just a remap would make around 260bhp on all the s3 8l engines,I defo do have the milltek,down pipe and decay as well as filter and remap,would the not make a few more bhp?

S3's make 240 to 260 hp on stage 1 software, 275hp is possible with stage 2 software, FMIC and Badger 5 TIP but it does vary depending on engine condition especially these days as they are getting old...

Probably best getting it on the rolling rd to find out I reckon. What sort of bhp you reckon I should be getting,or could be getting with the mods I've mentioned?

Between 240 and 260 hp as mentioned... and don't take it as read what the dyno says either as this will be down to dyno lottery...

I would make sure that wherever you take it either specialises in VAGs or at least knows enough about them to log whats going on in case of other issues... have seen loads of cars on the dyno with '260hp' only for them to be putting not much more than std power due to all sorts of reasons...

Also, you won't make best power unless you are using some sort of premium fuel such as V-Power or Momentum... have had a few cars in that have loads of timing pull and make lower end of the stage 1 power range mostly due to using 95 ron fuel...

Most stage 2 maps require you to run 98/99 ron fuel as it allows extra timing to be added to get the mid range increase stage 2's provide...

Cheers for that tuffty,I'm not too fussed about getting more power for now I'm more bothered about getting on top of the car and getting to know it and make it reliable before more power is added,I've driven really alot of the 1.8t engined cars,tts,s3's etc and know that it feels way better than the standard stuff does.

She won't be 300, you're limited by what the std turbo can flow. A big boost spike in the mid range will make it feel fast, i.e. the mid range pull.

We're not too far away from you if you'd like it health checked :)
