what miles are you guys getting .........driving locally in a 2.0 tdi sportback ?
say.....you do 100 miles how much you putting in at the pumps?

Im using shell at £143.9. per litre

450 average per tankful. That's from total fill up to total fill up. Usually works out at about 43 - 45 mpg

I'm using fuelly.com to track my MPG - have tracked 7056 miles (from new) and average 47.2mpg overall.

Combination of about 70% motorway at 70-75mph and 30% town driving.

Wouldn't say I drive it like I stole it, but not in the slightest bit "light footed"

always around 480-510 per full tank, usually costs £73 for a full tank (varies ofc at diff stations per cost of fuel). Makes it around 42-44MPG

170 BHP Quattro here, but I'm getting 45mpg average so far with a heavy right foot.

I was under the impression the 140's were more than that.... I was hoping for about 45 out of my 170 Quattro when it arrives. Ah well will be better than my current 26 out of my Leon. Mpg isn't everything , just get out and enjoy I say!

Si

Mine isnt a sportback but is a tdi140 04 plate and im getting 52 mpg just now, all short journeys longest journey i do is to work which is 10 miles.

Hi, I have a TDI 140 Sportback and was astounded to get 69.1 mpg on a very easy run sticking to 60 mph, which I was really pleased about and around town I'm still getting high 40's. Superb economy.

I'm averaging a little over 46mpg with an ODO of 6200 miles on my 140. worked out using Road Trip on iPhone.

all good ive managed 69.3 at 58-60 mph.

ok.......i work that at around 112 miles on 18.50 as a tank full costs around £74 ......damn these fuel prices!

I'm literally the mirror of you.

Same criteria, same driving style, same MPG (except I get 47.4 mpg!:nyah:)

I thought today that my mpg was perhaps a little low, but looking at someone driving absolutely identical to me, it seems about right :)

When I picked the car up I made sure that computer two was zero'd and I've never reset it since then - the DIS thinks I've done 51.1mpg since new - fuelly (which is dead accurate as far as I'm concerned) says 47.2

From new, the DIS says my average MPH is 35, and I've driven the car for 226 hours.

The car is now saying it wants a service in 1,300 miles (9,000) - funny 'cos a colleague of mine has the same car and he didn't have his first service until 18,000 ???

depends what service your cars on standard 10k or 20k longlife.

Brimful to brimful 45mpg. That's shopping and very hilly moors trips, 2 up, a lot of 1 in 5s and steeper, 2005 140 DSG. Haven't done a long trip yet!

Mustn't grumble!

ahhh one of these threads again...

so on my 140 i am getting about 550 miles to the tank... and i fill up a full tank at a time. i dont like filling up half or less as it feels like it runs out too quickly.
i get average (according to DIS) 60mpg on regular motorway runs and about 50mpg in town

thats because you keep hitching a ride on lorrys ash sorry couldnt resist lol

According to my DIS display since last service which was 2k miles ago I am averaging 47.9mpg.
2005 2.0 TDI 3 door with DTUK chip

I wouldn't pay to much attention to the DIS as it doesn't seem terribly accurate! well not in my car anyway

I usually get in region of 500 miles to a full tank & thats driving until its very nearly empty, in fact I did run out last month & luckily didn't have to bleed the thing! My own fault I didn't realise the petrol station shut at 10, got there at 10.15 with 0 miles on the DIS turned the car off & then it wouldn't start so had to walk to the next petrol station and buy a jerry can!!

500 miles to a 55 litre tank = 41 mpg

So people are saying there car is averaging 50 to 60 mpg?

50 mpg = 610 miles

60 mpg = 730 miles

if they are I'll buy there a3 off them as I could do with that kind of mileage in my life!

Exactly. Ok, I'm disappointed with the 42mpg I get, but talking about mpg is very difficult as people never quote their engine, whether the figures are real or DIS etc etc. Also, people will look at their DIS more when they are under acceleration, hence it will show more.

The best website I have found is this: Spritverbrauch berechnen und Autokosten verwalten - Spritmonitor.de It's in German, and lots of people there seem to record their true fuel usage. If you sign up, you can view it in Engish.

For my car, the website shows 44.95 as the total average (this is 2006-2007, 140TDI). However that includes the quattro transmissions, so the FWD engines should be slightly better. I truly expected to to slightly above 45-46mpg, but don't.

I am disappointed as I moved from a 2001 car, which did get a true 48-50mpg.

not a sport-back but I have the 140 DSG, and I normally average around 50ish. I mainly use D mode, but then when the missus aint about, the S comes out and the mpg plummets.

"people never quote their engine, whether the figures are real or DIS etc etc. Also, people will look at their DIS more when they are under acceleration, hence it will show more"

Exactly, everyone just throws pub figures round the place and tell them selves that there cars are doing 50 mpg!!

I don't think there's much point in taking examples from other people's mpg figures, everyone drives differently and do different routes etc, I've never been on a car forum and had anyone get the same average mpg as me. I drive a TDI 170 and get an average of around 38mpg most fill-ups! Saying that a few days ago Audi replaced the injector pumps, and i don't know if it's just in my head but the car seems noticeabley quicker and cleaner on acceleration and I'm hoping it may improve that figure.
