I got my old 16" Speedlines sat out back doing nothing at the moment and two tubes of wrap in the spare room.
Being a addicted to wrapping at the moment I thought it would be logical to wrap my wheels.
I want to get them refurbish and thought this would be a cheaper option.

I wrapped the badge is matt black.

Just need to work out what I want on the wheel.

Gloss or matt or attempting something I've got no idea how to do and two gloss and matt?
I'm open to other ideas as well.

using normal tools, any one got any idea how to remove the valve and weights?
 
wow they look good, but how you going to do wheels? intersting. try gloss black an cut the valve of with a blade from behind the wheel, remove the waight with a normal screwdriver :icon_thumright:

I'll give that go and get stripping and sanding this weekend.

No a clue. Never done any thing this big or complicated.
Only done dash trims and wing mirrors.
It will be entertaining, I got a rough idea I guess its just trial and error at the moment.

Best way dude is to do the inside first. You'll find the alloy probably flairs out so a good amout of overlap will be needed, as you heat it and push it in the vinyl will splay hence the loads of excess needed or you could be left with a V shaped bit of alloy showing ( that's if the bell out like the avusIII's) Then when you got it in trim the overlapping Peice. Then wrap the face as normal, give each triangle area a load of heat pushing in with a soft cloth slowly in stages until its in place then cut a small triangle leaving enough to overlap onto the back side of the rim. Push the final bits in with the Michael Jackson gloves I sent you and trim on the back side. They should go in ok I think I had major probs with the avus III's as you know but that was due to the vinyl not having enough stretch in it.
 
I was all ready for saying NO! but seeing what you have done to the cap has changed my mind.

It will be worth a try to see how the finish is and how they look on the car and how well the wrap ages with the brake dust attacking it etc.

You could have just started a new craze!

I know what you mean.

The avery matt is really stretchy but if I stretch it to much it goes shiny. lol

I would not go that far. lol

Brake dust is my concern but since they are for winter use only. I'm not that bothered really.
 
I wouldnt be sure of that, wrapping is cheap enough to do so it could be the best option for a quick fix or a dramatic change of colour

I would go matt as it will look less like a wrap.

I wanna see pictures asap lol

Hahaha.
You'll be waiting a couple of days.
I got to wait for more wrap to turn up.
I think I got enough matt but not enough gloss.

Soon as I've done one I'll get it up.

No worries bro you know where I am. Ye I'd ditch the idea of matte. 1 it won't push in without pigmenting, 2 it will show all grease marks and look like you'v been to Kentucky and wiped yr fingers on the rims. Gloss for the win but again go easy when pushing it in or it will pigment and the adhesive will show through :thumbsup:

Any recommendations on wheel cleaning solutions?
I might get some of that cheap stuff some halfords/B&Q. It don't have to look after the wheels.
 
Aldi are selling a 500ml wheel cleaning kit at the mo, £1.99 i got two the other day . Not tried it yet but at that price its woryh a punt
You got any upvc cleaner or g101 to wipe down after dude ?

Got G101 already mixed up ready for :thumbsup:

I'll have to pop down there tomorrow.
 
I vote matte!!!

Gloss will get dirty quickly and look crap, but it would only be a quick wipe to clean i sppose!

Bit of revival.

I've moved of away from wrap and on to Plasti Dip. :thumbsup:

Only issue is that they are out of black.
So I'm going for something else but not sure what.

Any one got any sensible ideas of what colour to do my winter wheels?

I am tempted to go fluorescent or glow in the dark. Not sure how legal glow in the dark wheels are.
 
Where are you getting the plasti dip from? I have seen it on youtube but could not find a UK supplier.
