I'm shocked this hasn't been seen or written about yet.

I just came on expecting a lot of chat about this little quad exhaust beauty. Will be majorly disappointed if they don't increase power. I understand that the VAG people like to focus on weight more than power but seriously the day an Astra out powers you.........they need to stop and think!

Anyway let the discussion continue!!

great find lad.
yep totally agree, would have thought that something around the 300bhp would be coming to a S3 near you.

btw what colour is your car and have you mapped the 140?

Looks Very Bland to me.........:sadlike:.....The only thing that looks different compared to the normal one is the exhausts.

Power is a major let down, but with the RS3 running @ 330bhp they'd be ******* a lot of RS owners of running circa 300bhp lol!

Surely that's not the styling, looks like a sport model 2013 A3...... Quad exhausts

It's Ice silver. I haven't mapped it.... Yet. Still considering as might change the car next year either an A1 Black Edition or possibly new A3 although I have a feeling it will be mega bucks for Sline and Black Edition won't be out for a while.

Very much doubt quads will be standard unfortunately. If the RS3 couldn't even get the ovals. Not good!

I hate the new model, looks like an enlarged A1,

Blehhhh

i like it. i understand that the s line will be available from launch.

If that's what the new S3 is going to look like and go like then I can see a big flop on the horizon.
It doesn't even look like an s-line!
Hopefully keep the price of my 8P3 up tho, the same as when Subaru launched the STi hatch. Managed to make a profit on my blob eye when I sold it :)

Ive got to say i hated it at first, but i really am warming to it. I think its going to be around 280bhp.

I doubt that is the final bodywork for the S3, no skirts, crap looking wheels, fairly standard front and rear bumpers. I think they have just put standard bumpers on it for testing. I dont know why they would spend money developing and using quad pipes on a test model to then not do it on the production model though so we can hope yet!

Exhaust wise they haven't had to develope anything, they've probably just used a TTS system so on that basis it may come with a quad tailpipe set up. Power won't be widely more than the current model as BMW or Merc equivalents are around similar figures.

Expect the final production model to look more blingy in terms of skirts and badges etc, but if you look at the S4 etc they aren't really stand out models.

Once they are launched they will be a good seller with out a doubt! Audi don't really go wrong with the S models except maybe the V10 S6.

guys, that will not be the final look of the S3. All manufacturers do this. Why would they drive the actual car round the track for everyone to see? would just ruin the suprise. For me thats just the sport bodywork.

it will look great i think..

Does look a bit boring...as said maybe that's just an s3 in disguise!

Spot on.
Dont believe for one minute this mule is anything like a car that is still upto 2 years from release!

^^ Exactly as I was saying in my first post, no way is that the final styling for it. That's gotta be an SE lol, no offence SE drivers aye :ninja: I think the new A3 is a nice looking car, it is essentially a big A1 but the A1 is a tidy motor tbf. The S3 will be great I'm sure, gonna be a better drive than the current one from the sounds of it.

bOring... but i don´t believe will be like showned

I'd guess they're testing running gear, not body work so it looks like an S-line (apart from quad tips). There'll be more disguised "mules" with the proper S body kit kicking about later.

+1. It's just a mule. There is no way they'd show the final body without HEAVY camoflague at this point in time...

I think Audi has reached its optimal level in terms of design, they have nowhere else to go other than downwards. They should focus more on the performance.

I'll believe it when i see it, media hype, and probably ********..!!

I think this looks horrible. too much like the audi a1 sline. probs grow on me in different colours etc but right now its not my cup of tea.

I'd be surprised if that's the final exterior, although the same test car has been featured on another site:

It doesn't look like an S3, and certianly not as nice as the current S3, more like a basic-sih A3 or SE.

It doesn't look sexual enough, there's no wibbly-veiny bits on it!

Its fairly low tbh & quadback, styling will change a fair bit, so nobody can really judge or say its fugly for an S3 for quite a while imho.

Agree 100%.
This is a test mule.
It's S3 running gear and engine with an A3 body as disguise. Very common practise (go to Ingolstadt and you see them EVERYWHERE).
Given the quad pipes on this test mule, you can bet they will be on production (not going to have them on test mule for the sake of it).
Yes, quad pipes are not on the RS3 but the RS3 is an 8P... this is new generation!
