hi all, purchased my a3 on friday and I'm wanting to add cruise control and maybe the sat nav. i currently have the audi concert cd player with bose, AUX, auto headlights & wipers and a round MFSW with driver info on the display.

I'm going to see about getting Cruise control parts ordered this week so wondered if anyone knew the part numbers and prices for what id need?

also what would i need to fit the sat nav unit to my A3? is there only the RNS-E or is there different models etc and whats the difference?

thinking about getting them both and fitting myself then having them both programmed in, is here anyone local to birmingham or nottingham that could do them both for me or have an idea what sort of price I'm looking at to get them both done?

thanks in advanced

Dan

I have just done the very same things if you check out my post on cruise and sat nav help.

The cruise kit cost me about £87 from TPS, and the RNS cost me £500 from another forum member.

thanks for that ill have a look now...

just had a look, only shows pics of yours fitted and the issues you had, not really helpful to me unfortunately as i need part numbers etc.

was your RNS hard to fit? who did your programming for you?

thanks

The part no. for the cruise kit i fitted to my 2010 was 8PO 054 690B if that helps.
RNS went straight in with no coding issues at all, just fired straight up.

ok thanks for that does that code supply he stalk and the new trim?

iv read that the RNS needs coding as it brings up a fault? the wiring for the aerial looks quite complicated on one thread i read?

Sorry i dont have the part no. for the lower trim at hand.

CC retro-fit kit part no. :- 8P0 054 690 £62.29

Lower cowl part no. :- 8P0 953 512 A £28.68

These are ETKA prices from a dealer. Ring Dave at Stoke Audi for discounted prices but you will have to pay postage.

Apart from VCDS coding you will also need a 12mm spline bit to remove the steering wheel

Thanks for that mike! Appreciate it, my dads in the trade do will sort me out the bits but handy to remember in case.

Just been reading about fitting the RNS-E and seen it mentioned about an antenna adapter, will I need one of these?

Just been reading that thread looks complicated but I imagine it should be clearer when actually doing it.

Thanks for clearing that up for me... Just got to find a unit now lol

Once again... Thanks added to watch list ready :)

Any idea what sort of price I would be paying for someone to code The cruise control and rnse? Also could I fit the new stalk and use it normally just as indicator until I get it coded?

I'm in Lincoln if that helps.
Yes new indicator portion of the stalk will still work.

Coding for both is very simple and does not take long but you do need the specialist piece of software together with the cable.

The CC stalk is separate from the indicator stalk.

Sorry, stupid iPhone! Edited now :)

Ok great so I can fit it then sort out coding :)

Thanks I'll bear that in mind of I can't find anyone closer, I'm imagining getting the coding done on both by someone else would be cheaper than buying vagcom myself?

Depends on how much you might want to use VCDS (vagcom). If you plan on doing loads of mods and checking and fixing faults then you might be better buying.

Where are you located ?

I live Birmingham way, but work from Nottingham .

I would like to get it but unsure wether I'll get my use out of it.

Oh you would get use out of it lol, thats the issue, once you have it, you'll want to use it more :)

What year is the A3?

Yeah that's the problem, I wasn't going to touch this car lol

Its a 2008 (57 plate) NHN you supply the vcds don't you? What's price can you do it for me and is there a version of mac or is it just windows?

Im looking at the sat navs, what's best to get? Is it worth paying out for the led one? As iv seen one for £450 used, or should I just go for the normal one? Hoping to get one this week if possible just not sure what the differences are?

Thanks
Dan

Thanks all for your advice, iv purchased a newer LED model RNS-E and antenna adapter which should all be with me today and iv got the cruise control bits so will be fitting them the weekend all being well and hopefully be purchasing vcds tomorrow :)

Hey Mike, could you confirm the part numbers below would be the correct ones for a 2007 8P S3? I've just fitted the highline 8P0 steering control module when I fitted the FBMFSW.

Yep - those are the right numbers. I will however double check on latest list. Those numbers were the ones I got.

Edit - just double checked, those are correct.
