I've seen these short shifter gizmos on various sites.
Are they worth the money
or could there be trouble ahead if I fitted one ????
Anyone fitted one of these and able to give me tips or advice.
Where would be the best place to buy one and do I need both the parts I've seen advertised?
Thanks for any advice and tips.

I bought a Neuspeed short shifter kit from Awesome-GTI a few months back. Paid nearly £80 in total.

Went to fit the kit, and Audi had changed the gearing on the 2012 models so was unable to fit. If after doing your research you want them, get in touch. They are new and UN-opened!

Hi boydie which ones do you have ,forge?

Yeah forge - I stumbled across an unused bargain which I had to have - I probably would have had second thoughts if I would have had to have bought new though!

how much do these kits lower the gear stick by? as i find right now my gear stick is at the perfect height to hold it while my elbow is on the armrest

It doesn't reduce the height, Ash, it just reduces the Distance required to put stick into gear,

How hard are these to fit yourself? Found a quick video on a Golf and didnt seem too complicated...

All these kits are doing is moving the linkage over on the mechanism by around 1/2 inch. You can remove the mechanism (which you need to do anyway) and redrill the hole yourself for free rather than pay £80 and it achieves exactly the same thing!

I've shortened the gear stick shaft myself on my car (so the knob sits slightly lower) and this gives a similar feeling to having the short shift mech fitted as the throw is slightly reduced.

Easy to fit - take out intake, take out battery and you will see the existing shifter on top of the gear box, just disconnect, select your throw lengths and refit everything else :)

Or OEM TTS Shortshifter part number 8J0 711 046 E obviously only for certain vag 6 speed boxes and non adjustable

Agreed, Boydie, 30 mins max fitting time,
As long as old shifter comes off with no probs ;)
