So i was browsing ebay for stuff that i had been asked to check and whilst i was there i was doing my usual search for parts i want to see if there were any bargains going on.
I found a sale for this very special item that i have wanted for over a year which was going for an unbelievable price so i prepared myself and put the item on watch. As the item got down to the last few minutes i was watching like a hawk and you can guess my heart started racing as i never thought that this item would go for so cheap but i put my bid in and to my surprise i won this for just £171! :rockwoot:

so here are the pics of what i just got from the postman (no kidding i only just opened it 5 mins ago and im here posting it as im soo pleased)

I took the address packaging off to reveal this:

after a little cutting and pulling i got to this:

then another 2 mins of cutting, pulling and tugging on the bubble wrap like a child on Christmas i got to this!:

Now as soon as i source an airbag this wheel is going on my car and thus freeing up my current MFSW and airbag for sale.
I also have 2 MFSW for sale (link in my sig) and i have a Steering control module for anyone that wants to do the retrofit and needs the module changing.
If anyone is interested in taking my current mfsw off me or the other ones i have for sale just pm me
Sometimes i really  eBay... what an asolutely perfect way to start the Easter holidays

Ash, love the new flat bottom wheel, farhan and ads, nice pics. :)

not such a bargain if you ask me, coz the airbags cost a bomb secondhand.

Chunky and perforated = WIN!

Looks like I'm going to be waiting longer than expected for the next stage of mods, bidding on a flat (closes in 10mins!). Otherwise, I'd be getting my US centre console, new wheel and maybe RNS-E mk2.

Good luck with the flat Martin. Hope you get it. :)

well i have a way of getting an airbag :ninja:
no ADS not what your thinking bro :p
just going to need a few weeks to get some more cash together before i get the airbag as this was not a planned mod so i just spent money when i really shouldnt have. :asskicking:

right so i have a little update...

I dont really like the white/silver stitching on the wheel so i was thinking what can i do to make them red? i thought about having the wheel retrimmed but thats lots of money so i decided i would give dyeing the stitching a go...

so here is the first try of the wheel dye as i was going along...

While i was doing it i very quickly figured out its not the red i want and it was too light...nonetheless i completed it but kept in mind that i will have to redo it a couple times to get the right colour.

Now last night i managed to find some more time and i found the Audi Crimson red to dye the wheel with so i went ahead and applied the dye and then used the Gliptone twins to clean up the wheel and here is the end result:

Feck me so were talking £500+ for a steering wheel! Its a killer the bags the most boring part but the most expensive!

Is this really going to fit a3?I have a3 2004 tdi and I want this one my car as well :)))what is your old steering wheel look like?if it is an s line then I dont mind to have it :))

Used a range of fabric dyes but i had to be careful i didnt ruin the leather. biggest problem was getting the right colour but luckily found a craft shop with specialist dyes and stumbled on Crimson red

This is the cheapest i can find on ebay of a wheel similar to mine... but it is not fully perforated and also a DSG... and that is over £900!!!

AUDI R8 STEERING WHEEL S5 RS3 RS6 RS4 RS5 TTS S-LINE S3 Q7 S4 S6 S7 S8 TTRS A3 | eBay

finding the chunky flat bottom wheels in a manual is very hard, but here is one as a buy it now at £565:
*OEM* Audi TT-RS Steering wheel New In Box FLAT BOTTOM | eBay
so the fact i have got one even without the airbag for under £200 is a bargain.

Yes it will fit my A3...
my current looks like this: your welcome to take it off me as soon as i fit on the flat bottom one

Under £200 for the wheel sounds good to me. I paid just over £200 for mine and I was chuffed with that. Fitting of mine is on hold until I get an airbag also. That has been delayed by the monster service which is happening today/tomorrow.

just to note there are issues depending on age around 06 the airbag systems switched over to dual stage so it may not work on a 2004!

If its a sportback it will fit, if its a 3door no it wont fit, 54 reg sportback come with the dual stage airbag system, but the a3 double grill come with the single stage, is yours a double grill front?

yh already established over PM its a single stage so it can be adapted to fit his wheel but how safe that is, is still the mystery.

could we try fitting it into a micra for test? we need a volunteer to drive it in to a lampost! anyone? hehehe

Great find and good luck with the bag hunt. You should ask my wife she never has a problem buying bags :)
