Thursday I filled my old coolant bottle up with bleach, left it for 4 days, drained it out yesterday and it looked the same.

In conclusion, you can't bleach your coolant bottle white again.

Wash it in the dishwasher, might be more effective?
i tried that it did make a difference, then put it all together and it leaked around the middle....

ended up buying one from bay of e, identical to ECP even same box, however word of warning the exisiting OE hose clips where no good had to use standard jubilee clips.

Dishwashers jet the water out, you do realise that?

Failing that, just put it in the right way up instead of upside down...

You do realise the coolant bottle has walls and sections with it it, it also have 1 semi large hole and its not round, its square ish?

Really? how come?

I bought mine from Audi and it was fine. apart from the plug. that was different.

Hi Scott i didnt buy from Audi i bought an aftermarket one and the outlet pipes where smaller i guess

use radiator flush or that metal renovator stuff you get from B&Q, worked a treat on my TQS's rusted up header tank/coolant bottle.

sorry i meant dishwater tablets i put them inside andlet it steep for a few hours!!

I'd be keen to give mine a clean if a way could be found so this is an excellent experiment!
What about trying dishwasher tab and some water and chuck the bottle in the microwave for a bit?

That wont work cause there is metal in the bottle.
The switch, round the exit pipes and where the cap goes.

Stain remover?

you'll be surprised to know you can put metal in a microwave, so long as theres a conductive path between the chunks (water should do) and no sharp points you should get no arcing.

I've microwaved spoons, forks, and even the metal foil takeaway dishes, they all work just fine.

Or you could just pay £15 and have a brand new one delivered from gsf

Sod that.
Last time I put metal in it sparked, smoked and went funky. lol

Bought a bran new one and fitted it.
This is the old one i'm playing about with.

Or better still, close the bonnet and ignore it :p

I got a new one.
Seeing how much crap is coming out of this bottle is shocking.

Buying a new one is too easy! lol. I'd have a play myself but don't have a spare. What about Petrol/white spirit/turps? Put some gravel in there too and a good old shake for a while, obviously making sure to get all the gravel out after.

Might turps.
I'll get some when I'm passing.
