Hi there,

Just wanted to see if anyone knows whether a diffuser from an 8p sline will fit the bumper of a sport? just the bottom half, as they appear to look the exact same dimensions.

Cheers
chris

I get the feeling it won't, but I'm sure someone else will be along to confirm shortly.

Yep it sure will, I have just fitted a towbar to my S-line black edition and had to change the rear skirt, it was one with a hatch in it for the detachable towbar but it is meant for any sportback so this suggests they are all the same as my one fitted into the S- line bumper perfectly.

Yes but sport & sline arent the same for his year 04, so takes a fair bit of modding to fit, newer facelift rear bumpers already have a cut out & the relevant valance is fitted for towbar or not.

Do we know what modding is needed? I'd love a newer valence on my 04 bumper.

Couldnt agree more.. Would really like a new one aswell? Can anyone help? Theres a couple on ebay so might just buy one and see how i get on and sell it if i cant fit it!

Well you have to trim some plastic pieces of to make it sit flush with the upper, but also have to use some good ties to pull it into position as in follow the curve nicely, I did mine & it looked perfectly ok afterwards, but thats now long gone, but totally possible.

I actually have a facelift 3dr 09 onwards whole rear bumper for sale if anyone's interested which will fit any 3dr 8P since 03.

OK, just to check then, can I make either of these lower sections fit my 8P1 bumper?

I believe is the 8P3 S line/Black edition? This would be my preference.

I believe this is the 8P2 S line valence:

Can either/both be made to fit? I don't mind doing some cutting etc as long as it appears to fit properly once completed!

No, you can fit the 2nd one, 1st is facelift bumper/valance as I have for sale complete which is completely different mould, cant fit to yours at all.

Do you have any pics of the second one fitted to the 8p1 bumper? (is that what you did on yours as you mentioned above?) I don't think I have ever seen anyone do it!

Sorry no pics, but I fitted the sline valance to a sport bumper on an 54 car, took some doing but got it fitted.

Looks like a facelift sline bumper to me as cant see the line of the valance that 03-08 cars have.

Looks like an 06-08 S3 valance to me, if so then yes it will fit, missing the toweye cover.

Sorry, I've done a bit of reading up as I'd like to get this done, but now I'm more confused than earlier

Would I simply need to remove the part highlighted in green, and replace with the S3 equivalent?

Or would I also need to replace the part highlighted in pink first, then have it sprayed to match the car?

If so, does anyone have part numbers for both pieces? Thank you as ever

I stole the picture from another member on here. My carpet is even older :o.k:

Anyone got any idea how much this 8P2 S line valence is from Audi or know of one for sale? Might just give getting it to fit my 8p1 bumper a go!

The highlighted pink and green bits are one piece. You remove that whole bit and fit the S3 one.

You know you'll have to spray part of that diffuser to match the colour of your car??
I wouldn't bother mucking about with all of that plus the modding to get it to fit. I'd just go for an entire s-line bumper, they look better minus the rub strips anyway. Obviously your front would still have the rub strips though.

I was just thinking as my car is grey that adding the S-line diffuser probably wont even be that noticeable anyway. That said I think the shape of it appears to be a little flatter and deeper which is better, mine curves under a lot.

TBH I think adding the whole 8P3 black edition bumper and diffuser (like on the black one above) would make a bigger impact, but were talking lots more ££'s!

that does give a vague idea how an S-Line 8P2 valence would sit on my 8P1 bumper, so thanks for that!

But that's not an 8P2 S-Line valance, or is it?

I've got an 8P2 S-Line and this is what the rear of mine looks like;

F*ck me I'm confused

The ebay one is an 8p1 bumper (like mine) that has the standard sport lower section that I assume has been painted and some dodgy chrome strips added to make it look like the 8p2 s line lower section (yours) ... I think

Or just go for the 8P3 standard/s-line rear bumper with standard diffuser like mine, which looks the same as the 8P2 s-line bumper/diffuser - minus the line/join between the two painted parts so it looks even smoother.
Also, the standard 8P3 bumper is easier to find used because ALL 8P3s use the same bumper apart from the S3.
You don't have to find a number-of-doors specific (3dr, sportback, cabrio) diffuser either as they all fit each other.

At the time of buying my bumper I was regularly seeing them for £50.

Ah I see now, what a botch job

. Though he got a bit creative with those chrome strips, as they don't come on the s-lines (thankfully!). It almost looks like an S-Line/**** S3 hybrid!

I love the look of the S3 rear. Does anyone have the part number for the below S3 diffuser? It's for a 3 door, if that makes a difference

Ah I see, good shout Ads. I know you did a lot of research when doing your facelift

So there you have it Tim, you're gonna have to do a Sport to S3 conversion and a 3dr to Sportback conversion.

Think I might just buy an new S3 and save myself all the hassel

In all seriousness it would be a lot easier starting with an 8P2 S line in the first place I think!

Yikes! Didn't know it was public

Its pretty much all car related Pics in there I've used on various forums for like 10 years or so I think!
