Other than fitting an aftermarket exhaust, is there any way to make my TDi 170 sound a bit more throaty when accelerating?
I've looked at induction kits but have heard mixed reports.

Remove the back box and fit a straight through pipe to the tailpipes, a lad has done that on here and it sounds half decent, that was on a PD140.

I think he's called 'itwasntme1987'.

If it's a PD 170 if you do the DPF delete the only box is then the back box and it gives it a turbo spool noise that is quite loud at idle and a bit of a "whoosh" when accelerating. Not loud I suppose, but the last thing I'd want to make a PD diesel is LOUDER :w00t:

I also did the same thing.

Simply removed the backbox and had a straight pipe welded on with a tip. Sounds real nice under heavy accel and completely normal and quiet when cruising.

Btw, the turbo whoosh noise is so loud when the engine is cold. Turns so many heads!
