hi guys was in the car park today next to a new shape a4 and as they walked to the car they popped the boot with the remote and the boot released and lifted ready for the shopping. is there a way of getting this feature on my b6. i have the boot release button on my key fob just need a way of lifting the boot.

iv seen 1 done on audizine

if id saved the link i would have posted it
but i really cant be ***** to look tonight

Interesting thread..... i have an Avant and the middle button on my keyfob shows an open boot but when i press it nothing happens........ i do know that the previous owner ( my Dad ) did a bit of butchery around the boot central locking after it all stopped working..... the central locking works fine at the moment but are we saying there is another solenoid to actually pop the door ??? i appreaciate it wouldn't open fully as thats what this thread is about in the first place just wondering if i need to fix something first before attempting this mod.... ohh i have 2 fobs and it's the same with both incase someone says it might be the fob

Lock the car and hold the boot button down for 4 or so seconds and the boot should unlock and lift away from the catch.
if it does not work, check the coding and VCDS.

That. But it's only about 1 second on the B6.

I presume it's to stop it being accidentally pressed in your pocket - if that happens with the door unlock, the security will rearm if a door isn't opened but the boot release button physically opens the tailgate (which can't be reset).

Well mine deffo dosn't work at the mo ...... what coding would i be looking at with VAGCOM ??? though i'm more inclined to think there will be some sort of solenoid or actuator that has failed

Depending on the position of the lock the tailgate will pop or not. Check the key slot. I can't remember what it should be but the slot can be in a horizontal or vertical position. Try both and see if the remote release works.

take it they didnt fit an automatic boot opener to later b6 saloons then shame i wonder how different the b7 hinges are? Was hoping someone was going to say i just needed to replace the 2 little struts!

Had a go at this earlier and upon pressing the middle key on my remote the boot popped open, then if you don't press the open key and close the boot again it automatically locks! I would be interested in having the boot open the whole way, so must look into this! :)

I did that once with a hire car in Italy! good job the spare keys were in Rome and I was in Trieste (a long ways away!). Luckily there was a fire extinguisher to hand to put through the window! and a ski hatch as well to get through to the boot other wise we would have been really foooked

I need to have a look at my boot solenoid. The boot only opens with the key, the button on the bootlid or fob don't work at all.

Just been out and checked mine and it doesn't open with the button! Is this another one of audi's random specs? Or just something that needs coding with VCDS

The artisan.. :)
