turbo I'm new to all this

hey all. Never had a turbo petrol engine before have noticed when on full chat i sometimes hear the turbo and sometimes not. Sometimes I'm sure its me sounds like it's behind me! Only when I'm driving very hard. what should i be hearing? This all correct lol? Thanks everyone :)
 
Turbos can be heard yes, if it sounds extra loud then could check for boost leaks etc but if it's boosting ok and holding it then just drive it till it pops lol

lol it's very faint and only hear it sometimes :) shame really sounds nice when you can hear it.
 
If you want more turbo/induction noise then fit a performance panel filter and a 3" downpipe.
 
So what kinda costs would I be looking at. I even turned the radio off just before passing a truck just to listen to the slight turbo noise I have! Put's a nice grin on my face :)
 
Miltek system wwill be about £600, remap about £300, ths decat £100 or so and a panel filter about £40 but I've heard these aren't good as you need to run them oiled and they foul the maff up
 
that's an interesting point re the oil! If I remapped, but ran a standard down pipe but with a custom exhaust and panel filter what gains could i hope for?
 
Remap and exhaust ewill be lucky to get a genuine 200 as the ajl already runs 12psi boost and 180 bbhp compared to the standard 150 bhp and 8 psi do we go from 180- 200 and ther go 150-200 as they are dall on the same tiny turbo

Are you sure they run 180bhp?? im sure they are only 162bhp??......And i have never seen a ko3 hit 200bhp on the rollers the closest i have ever saw was 198bhp that was with fmic, decat system, panel filter, new maf,new n75, and bosch super 4's(im not saying its impossible)
 
AJL is 180hp from the factory.

Theres the odd one thats made over 200, but not my much, and obviously dyno lottery applies.
 
I'm only getting 216 with a fmic, decat milltek exhaust, remap and a scroll sp51, really need bigger injectors and maff to make the most of it but then the torque starts exceeding the clutch capacity and oon an old engine do you then think about rods so you just keep chasing, perhaps when I get some proper cash again I can do a proper buil on another engine then just swap over one weekend
