Still working away. Ended up removing the whole engine so we could work on an engine stand. Just honed the bores and about to fit IE rods. Engine should be going back in around midday tomorrow.
Nice one mate, decent progress!
I thought you would end up removing the engine, makes sense and you can actually see what your fkn doing...:icon_thumright:

We're all in the cafe at the moment waiting on some big fry ups to fuel us for the morning.

We had an issue with 2 of the 3 inserts on the turbo (to mani) had come out but the bolts were still in them. We left them to soak in penetration fluid all night and they came out this morning.

Today we need to sort out the XS manifold. It's so difficult to fkn fit.

Should have the engine back in by this evening :)

Some good progress going on then. You will soon sort out the little niggly problems after a nice breakfast. Cant wait to see the pics and read an updated report later today. Have a good day westy, welly and the rest of the mechanic crew. :)

Welly ain't here Sandra :(

How come? Did he forget the permission slip, lol. He was so looking forward to helping you with this. Is he ok westy? Who do you have helping you? Are you happy with the progress so far? :)

Good luck pal, hope it carries on going smoothly for you :).

All the best Westy, all good things come to those who wait!

To be truthfully honest been ridiculously busy was still up at 4 in the morning and started at half 9 this morning
I'm sure he'll get his *** into gear soon and do an update lol ;)

Leave it out you hounds lol

All I can say is "I hate XS power"! I don't think they could have ever fitted one of their manifolds and DPs to the same car at the same time! The fitment is frankly gash.

Lol. I told you it was tight! It was a massive **** ache on mine.

Also make sure that it is as far away from the heat shield as you can. There's an annoying heat shield bolt in there, which will create an annoying rattle. You'll need to modify it probably.

Good luck mate

you should have bought a v2 manifold. the v1 wouldnt fit with modding it.

new to the site started reading this thread for inspiration, got to page 18 and realised it would take too long so jumped to page 40 great car and wish i was as lucky as you lol.

Westy stop being a **** tease! How's it going?? Sorry I can take it up there... Maybe tomorrow which might be a little to late me thinks

Engine is all done and in the car. We have spent a stupid amount of time struggling with the top DP bolt to the turbo housing. The bolt just won play ball and we're starting to think part of the thread on the turbo is slightly worn. Once this bolt is in we can start connecting hoses and cables back up.

Not trying to be a c**k in asking this question, but did you trial fit the downpipe to the turbo while the engine was out to make sure it fitted ok? or is it at a funny angle now it's installed and hence the issue?

Yes we did mate. We had to grind away the top corner of the DP to get it to fit properly. We are about to try and drop the sub frame to get more room.

Scott- pi55 off with the pics. I've got over 100 pics but I'm kind of busy at the moment to upload them :)

Just stopped for a pot noodle lunch! We finally got the DP back on with the sub frame lowered. All my workers have left for Sunday lunch but Tam will be back in a few hours. I've now got to get the drive shafts in and then it's just hoses and electrical connectors before start up :)

Well done westy. Happy Easter and enjoy your lunch. :) x

Ahh can't believe I'm missing the start up after all that time ;)

But glad you've managed to get round it mate bet you can't wait to see it and to sit back for a bit has been a manic couple of days :)
