it's about time to start my own s3 build thread

just got ITG maxogen. i hope i'll get some time to fit it as soon as i can. and fixed oil cap so it sits nicely, it was easy job.

Cool, does it sit straight when fitted. I've read that some R8 caps sit an an angle?

You will need to do a slight mod to make it sit straight but it is literally 2 minutes and **** easy.
You just pop it off, rotate a quarter turn and click it back together.

Boydie hasa thread about it if you need.

thanks Blueie.
today was a good day. it was sunny and warm, so went to my friend's place and we removed old forge cai (which need a good amount of time because the filter is behind the fog light) and then fitting itg maxogen cai was really easy and quick job. decided to paint catch can in black to so sanded it and painted it with black spray. so it's now pretty much all black under the bonnet. i'm really pleased with today's job.
tried it little on the way home and i think it picks up revs little bit faster, and it feels a bit better (or maybe that's excuse for this mod :D ). maybe the map needs few hundreds km's more to adapt. i also noticed that i can acutally hear the air going throught the cai.

you can see here black catch can. i think it looks better now.

right...so finally i did a quick log today to see MAF readings. and max figure i got with ITG was 246 g/s but ambient temperature was 22°C, last time i did a log with old Forge intake i got 247 g/s but ambient temperature was 0°C. not really a big difference but i didn't do this mod because of that just wanted a change. i really like the looks of ITG and the sound of it is sick.

oh and those wheels are gone now, couldn't make my mind since they were welded and all the crappy roads arround which means that i would ruin them really soon. that's it for now...
thinking of oem ch 18x8 et43 now and debadging ...

today i did a log again and i got 254 g/s so it seems that there is a difference in two of intakes after all.

if everything goes well next week i'm switching to Revo and going for Stage 2+ remap and SPS :D
i'm really excited...can't wait :D

Damn that's a nice move from REVO!
I really hope they will open the garage here in Slovenia :D

Sami report to me how it goes and what the map is like!
I'm really thinking that i would do the trip to Croatia to get a proper remap stage2+ ;)

of course i will since we have the same maps now...

Ok, car got serviced yesterday, got new cam follower, rs4 fpr, autotech uprated hpfp, and tomorrow morning car is going to revo for stage2+ treatment :D
Will also get SPS.
Hope it will make some nice figures and little more agressive power delivery :D
Can't wait!!

Nice Sami ;)
How much HP and NM do you expect?? :)

10 000 bhp and 7000Nm of torque :p
But would be happy with 350 bhp and a little more torque over 450 Nm that i have now :D
Will see :D

Yeah that would be nice man haha lol :)
Only 350? I'm currently on 355 bhp and 500NM of torque mate.
Still running OEM clutch but i'm very gentle ;) replace is coming soon!

355 with stock hpfp?? Or am i missing something?

You may just about see that sort of figure without the HPFP but what the pump really does is to smooth out the loss of midrange torque that happens otherwise.
Mostly,330bhp is the maximum without the pump, but as Pinterovski has said,he's got an Autotech.

Autotech Sami!
Still need to change the signature!
didn't know that. so you're running SKN stage 2+ or something else? those are actually good figures.

didn't know he has uprated hpfp. yeah i know that. right now i'm running +320bhp SKN stage 2 map and would be very happy with anything over 350bhp. i know that people are getting 360-380 bhp with revo stage 2+. but at the end tomorrow i will know everything :D

It's all a bit of a lottery according to the dyno, air temps and individual settings.
Midrange torque is perhaps the most important factor as opposed to top end bhp.

The best thing is to enjoy the results.

you said it all! and that's what i'm gonna do..guess it will have little more power, better/more agressive power delivery more midrange torque and will have SPS to play with settings and that's actually what i want from a remap.

Leave the timing alone but the boost can be altered.

If you fiddle with the timing you'd be best to have the car logged and to use the best fuel you can get or water/meth as well.

Mine's being set up for the water/meth next week so we should be able to push it a bit.

Sami now i'm running a custom map basically like stage2+ but from another company called VS Tuning.
Now i need some new twintercooler to push it to 380PS-390!

update!

first of all my neck is hurts :D

today i went to Revo Croatia to fit uprated autotech hpfp and to get a Revo stage 2+ remap unfortunately they run out of rs4 fpr and SPS devices so i'll get them some other time when i'll go back to fine tune the map because it was raining heavy and we couldn't test it and tweak it properly.

now remap review:
i've had stage 2 map on my car for 2 years now and it was pushing 320hp and 450Nm it was good but had a lots of missfires and it was killing spark plugs too soon.
seems that old remap had some kind of torque limiter in first two gears because it never felt quick in first two gears. i've always thought it's because of twintercooler but after new remap it's clear that it isn't twintercooler.
when tweaking the remap clutch was slipping and we couldn't get out the best of it. so tuner set the best settings that he thought would be the best.
on the way back home car didn't feel that much quicker than it was but i put that to clutch and wet road. the power delivery is linear all the way now, and it filled midrange with torque and now it feels that will never stop pulling where with old map i could feel the drop on higher revs. there is a massive kick in the back when you're on WOT and i wasn't joking when i said that my neck hurts. the best thing is as i was driving home the car felt stronger and stronger with every mile i've done and i guess that it's adapting because after 20 miles the car felt really powerful and i got the chills everytime i WOT it. my tuner said that will be even more powerful after about 100-200 miles and if i can judge by the fact that after 20 miles it felt way better then i think it will be a monster after the fine tune and 200 miles!!!
i'm really glad that i had this option near and i'm really glad that i went for Revo stage 2+ because it's really worth.
no graphs for now. but will try to do a dyno run soon.

thanks for reading :D

Told you it'd be fun.

Now there's always Stg3 and 4.

yes you did :D
funny that you say that as there was gt3076 with manifold sitting there and my friend said to me "now lets do a deal for that gt3076" :D

unfortunately didn't do a dyno run. but with every mile i do it gets better and more powerful.

It just keeps going...the need for more.

after 200 km i can say that car feels great and powerful even tho setting are basic and are set so i can't kill the clutch (VCDS shows 420Nm of torque but definitely it has more bhp than it had). had a chat with my revo tuner about SPS and getting rs4 FPR fitted and he mentioned to me that he's getting his own clutch kit for 2.0tfsi engines for 500+Nm (he said that it should be good for 700Nm) and that if i wait a bit that i can get it for a good price as my car would be first one to get it so it would be practicly test vehicle.

also did a log of a MAF and i'm getting over 265 g/s and ITG and REVO really turned to be great choice. :icon_thumright:

great news to start the day.

regards...

Glad you are happy with it mate!
I can't wait for Autotech HPFP and Revo 2+ on mine. Hopefully start of June for me.

My tuner said there is no point doing the RS4 FPR for a 2+ as it does not make a difference.
Interesting to hear what your tuner (and others) say on this topic?

Was your clutch slipping before 2+ or did it start going as soon as the 2+ was installed?
I was hoping that the new S3s (MY09/MY10 +) had a stronger clutch than the earlier (MY07+) cars but I guess not...

Just makes every drive into work a bit of fun, doesnt it.!......enjoy it!

it's not slipping as it set right now on lower setings, but on old map it was slipping because it had more torque. when i sort the clutch then it will be set properly.
yes alex, it's great fun to drive it, and i bet it will be even better.

and finally shiny R8 oil cap is under the bonnet :eyebrows:
looks really good.
phone pics..

also wrapped some hoses (DV hose, Catch tank hose...) that were rubbing and were showing signs of wear to prevent from puncture so now it's safe.

And now it's running full stage 2+ remap, after being on stock map since monday (some problems at revo hq) feels great and strong and powerful no errors on dis, goes like train, and when i fit the rs4 fpr timing will go up so it will be even more powerful. Really pleased with it. Also traction light flashes when pulling hard in 1st gear Got the newer file so seems that there isn't overfueling at idle anymore, so problem is solved... Luv it!! _________
