Hi everyone,

I signed up to ASN late last year when I began looking for my own 8P S3, hoping here would be a good source of knowledge and advice on the cars themselves, tuning options and the like. As it turns out, after looking at a few cars from a mint, 18,000-mile Sprint Blue pre-facelift car, to a facelifted Ibis white beauty with high mileage, to a Cat D Dolphin Grey car which was a bit of a mess, I got such a good deal on a new one from my local Audi dealer that I took the plunge and got one new, plumping for a 3-dr Black Edition, manual. My partner and I wanted either Brilliant Black or Ibis White with black Alcantara but unfortunately money talks for us and the deal we were offered was for available cars only, so after a bit of searching we have ended up with a Brilliant Black car with black leather and Comfort Pack which I pick up next week. I can't wait! However after seeing Warren's, and just missing out on a Panther Black car, I hope mine stays looking tidy! I must admit I really never wanted a black one, as all the ones I see seem to be black or silver, but when visiting the dealer they had a Brilliant Black model in the showroom, and the match to the grille trim and interior trim inserts really worked for me over the other black ones I had seen. I turned to the other half and said "That car just changed my mind about black S3s"!

The one thing issue is that I really wanted the interior lighting pack, and the salesman told me that Audi don't offer this as a dealer fit option - it's done ONLY when the car is built. Is this true? And if so, is there now any other way to get it fitted? I'm sure I have heard on here and elsewhere of people getting the packs retro-fitted?

Any advice would be great - and thanks for having me here!

Rich

Hi and congrats on the new car mate.
Yes, it can be retrofitted. The dealer will always say no though!!
basically, anything that was a factory option can always be fitted after using genuine parts.
Where are based mate?
PM Nigel, username (NHN) and he will give you a price for fully supplied and fitted. Most would argue his work is second to none!

Cheers. Danny

+1 to that mate.. PM Nigel (NHN) he can retrofit anything!:icon_thumright: And his work is spot-on.. I can vouch for it, he's fitted me a few bits to my11 a3 Black Edition - as he has for a lot of people on here

Thanks Danny - I guessed that would be the case, years ago I was an apprentice mechanic at Vauxhall and we were always fitting extras to cars during the PDI, so was surprised that simple basic lighting mods weren't done in the dealer workshop!

I'm not a million miles from you, think south of the water... :ninja: !

You will have to pass by mate and show her of when you get it.
If it did not come with cruise control, I can install this for you mate.

Thanks Danny, but from what we can make of the spec sheet Cruise comes as part of the Comfort Pack.
I do have another question whilst I think of it - what's the consensus on remaps? It's not something I want to do straight away as it's a brand new car and I will only map it if I get bored, but do people tend to go Shark, MTM, Revo, AmD? What are the differences in results and mannerisms between them?

EDIT: Of course I feel that a "Comfort" pack should most definitely include the interior lighting pack!!!

No probs mate, if it does not, then just let me know mate.

With regards to remaps, the options are endless. Maps like Bluefin and Revo are your so called "off the shelf maps" and places like AmD, custom Code etc offer custom maps, which they tune un accordance with your car and can be tweaked to get the most out of your car.
One thing though, you will notice a hell of difference.

There are many threads on here about maps. One of the top subjects. I am sure a few others will be along to advise more.

Thanks Danny! And yeah, keep in touch and I'll swing by some time and say hi.

:hubbahubba:... Just got back from the dealership as we had to pop down to sign off on the paperwork, and whilst we were waiting my salesman chucked me the keys for an R8 and took me out for a blat! Thank you! Haha, still buzzing...

Nothing quite like an R8 or a V10 Spyder, i have driven both. What a blast. :)

I've been promised a drive of the R8-GT when one comes through!
Sandra I have tried to send Nigel a message regarding Interior Light Pack and nothing is showing in my outbox, is there something wrong?!

Check your message settings mate, you probably have it set at not saving sent messages. Nigel probably has got it, give him time as he is a very busy and in demand man.

Thanks Danny! Unintentionally sent two then, oops!

I replied to you on the other thread. Its just as Danny has said, tick the box to save in the sent folder. Nigel will get back to you. :)
