Hello guys and congratulations for this reall helpful forum!
I have a '98 A3 18T / AGU engine and it's remapped by ABT (193ps).
Recently i noticed something weird on the intake manifold.
There is a small hose that is not connected on something and it's tapped by a screw :/
I have no idea what is this, but looks not so normal :)Can somebody tell me what this can be and where should be connected?
I post two photos,so you will see exactly what i mean.

Another question is if a N75 J valve could help me for little more boost. Is it ok to switch from my ordinary one?

Thanks in advance, keep the good work!

That hose should be connected to your DV, unless your DV is plumbed in elsewhere, than you need to get it hooked up again asap. You'll be running effectively without a DV at all at the moment, which isn't good for the turbo.

yeah i know.i have lost this lovely "kick".
It feels totally empty :(
Can you send me a pic of where exactly should that be connected please ?

The things are little complicated or just a mess...
I took a better look right now and as i could see there's not DV but this black plastic thing that you can't connect something on it !!!
Only a thicker hose from intake manifold goes on it and then it's plugged on the air flow manager hose.
What can i do ???

Wow, that's royally bodged, and will be slow as hell! Your diverter valve has been removed and replaced with a bit of pipe.

You now have in effect NO turbo at all! and a massive 25mm bore boost leak!

get a diverter valve back in where that bit of pipe is, and plumb the blocked vacuum feed into the small nipple on the DV and you'll gain about 50bhp instantly!

yeah there is no DV there. The black plastic thing you talk of is the hockey puck valve and its for the PVC system, that bits fine.

just realised thats plumbed right through, why would someone do that?

Guys, look at both pics above, it's pretty clear that the old DV hose and the FPR hose cross over creating an illusion.

the FPR is plumbed in fine, the hose you see capped off is the DV hose, which goes perfectly with the removed DV.

Sadly, whoever removed the DV should have blanked the two pipes, not joined them. At least that way the car would ahve run fine but had mild compressor stall, not a massive issue if the car isn't mapped.

What this has done is created a MASSIVE boost leak, and the poor little turbo is probably going nuts trying to make requested load

Yes guys, that happened after a reparation because of a crack on the main block.
I replaced the whole block, but the mechanic (as i can see) was not the best one.
When i bought the car,it was just amazing and was pulling like hell.
Anyway...How much a DV costs right now?

OEM dv is under £10 iirc and a forge 007p can be picked up on eBay for £60ish

Infact I have an oem plastic one you can have... Only a year old. Where are you based?

I'm living in Sweden mate.I have already ordered one. Thanks anyway :)
