Has anyone put a tow bar on a S3??

Basically I've read that it can be done. I know i will have to cut the bumper to allow for it. Just wondered if anyone has any advice on what parts to get, or if anyone has done it, the best way to go about the bumper cut.

OK, not a S3 but 3dr Quattro. I've had quite a problem getting a bar to fit. 5dr Quattros no problem, 3dr 2WD no problem. I think the issue with 3dr Quattros is the exhaust shape & the battery box in the boot, plus the boot floor is higher.

You can get a swan neck bar but this needs a different rear valance & flap in bumper. I have bought a Tow Trust bar and will look to get it fitted very soon, the instructions tell me I need to make a 40x60mm bumper cut, the bar piece itself unbolts.

It will be a couple of weeks but will try & put some photos up in time (of a tow bar - must be sad).

I know how sad hey. I'm going to be putting a detachable one on mine it's just the bumper cut I need to sort. I know someone on here had an s3 rear bumper and made a removable flap which could be taken out when the towbar was in use. I think I've found the right bar and wiring from pf jones.

Bad news, I had to put a roof box on last weekend to go camping. It wasn't pretty. It got taken off as soon as i got there

My dad has a detachable one on his 320d M-Sport Touring, its well hidden.
Unsure about cutting a section out the bumper on the S3 tho

I think Westfalia do them for an 8P S3 including detachable ones. It has a cautionary note for any 04/08 and onwards models but I'm not quite sure if means they wont fit or that the towbar shouldn't be fitted because Audi have remove the weights and measure towbar specs from the manual and are trying to stop them being fitted

If anyone can fit these then I would like mine doing. So please experiment and let me know how you get on. I dont want to be the first guinea pig because I'll only mess it up. LOL

Oh, I forgot. I dont want to tow any trailers, I just want it for use with a cycle rack for my BMX's and MTB's etc etc

I hate roof carriers and want something more secure than something just hanging off the back of my car
