Thanks a lot, got a lot lined up for the car in the next couple of months so that should keep this thread ticking along nicely.

@Reesy - awesome stuff to hear :) glad you happy and modding away :) hope to see something new soon. Good luck buddy and the best of luck with the build + many happy long miles ahead

Nothing really to report. Was driving car like a spaz, lost all power and car cut out, I cacked myself, limped car to work, a hose had popped off, put hose back on with a new clamp and hopefully all will be well.

Need to have a look at a slight grinding noise from the from N/S brakes and clear up some excess P/S fluid which I hope is causing the burning smell I get when the car has a pasting.

Just got to order a core at some point this month and I will have all I need to get an FMIC on. (Thanks to all that helped for sharing your knowledge)

Couple of questions:

Brake disk screws, talk to me.
Best to get one/2 from Audi or do local motor factors stock them? Never really looked if I'm honest.

Rocker cover options, do I go black or the colour of the car?

I don't replace the disc screw, just reuse them. Unless new disc came with new ones.

The one that was on the car when I got it was mauled to death and not reusable after we got it off. This is also the side that the noise is, but not every time I brake. Might be coincidence, but might not be. Obviously the disk cant actually go anywhere, but it makes it easier if the disk is screwed in.

Hope you got it sorted dude. Deffo black on the rocket cover IMO.

I thought this, as I want to remain a pretty stock looking as that's much more fun :racer:, plus I am having black fmic pipes and I have black silicone under the bonnet.

Car looks a lot sportier and meaner now as well.

Thanks a lot, Spoiler and wheel change make a massive difference. I still need to get some proper pics around the car when I next wash it, it looks like a rally car at the moment. :(

Deffo black then, will all tie in nicely and be OCD friendly ;)

Lol

what muppet would paint theirs green

what i meant to say was who's painting theirs muppet green ;)

green is well gay innit.

reesy same colour as the car looks good, id go for that. google some bays you'l see it looks nice.

thanks for reminding me on the disc screws too. i need 2

Time for an update, and first some pics:

First batch are some random one's from a visit to Scott B5's dad'd house (I met scott there, i wasn't stalking his dad)

Some S4 rims he had lying about:

Some of the bumpkin attempting to fit cruise control and us looking at fitting RNS-D (note the pocket tissues for if the excitement got too much):

And this is how he rolls:

Up next we have a few pics of a set of spare mirrors I had wrapped.

I don't like the matt black, as it looks more like un colour coded mirrors, and this ain't no poverty spec Ford!

Note someone's 'chicken dryer' next to the mirror cap and the fkn tablet in the back ground!

Undecided what to do with them next, might get carbon black wrap but have to see how the finances are as these are nowhere near top priority

How is your cruise?
I still blame your coding for it not working. lol

RNSD was a pain in the ***.
If we had more time I think we could have got something going.
Doubt it would have been pretty but it would have worked.

I got to be entertained or my mind will wonder off to do something else and leave you're mirrors half done.

Where is the pic of your motor leaving my Dad's house?

Keeping the train rolling along I have some blurry pics that were taken on my mob that sort of show a leak that I must have, any one got any ideas what it is or where it could be coming from. I think it seems to be coming more from the gearbox area but I am retarded and as such means that I am not sure, if that makes sense..

Awful pics I know, but they were taken under the car whilst it was at normal height, using a torch as a light and the iPhone 3gs camera which is shart at the best of times!

Surely this should have a bolt through it?!

Moving on, some recent ones:

Nice clean car and nice clean Zorst tips :rockwoot:

For the FMIC I still need a map sensor and, thanks to Jay a3 for noticing it, need to sort out something out for the FMIC and N75.
I have a seized N/S caliper so the S3 brake refurb has been bumped up the list.

A few other bits planned, but I won't mention them and will add updates accordingly.

How is my cruise? Well the stalk is nice to use, but the cruise itself doesn't work at all!
Nowt wrong with my coding, it's that you're attempts at wiring are as bad as mine.
Might still have a look into the RNSD, or put it up for sale to someone who likes that sort of thing..

You took that pic not me!

the wiring is spot on, going by the wiring numbers you've given me. :)

Don't mind giving the RNSD another go with a bit more time.

I also took the pic of the wing mirror caps.
I'll look for the pic now.

Here is a pic of my 8L resembling a removals van:

7011930165_99edc97853_z.jpg

Was neatly packed until all the loose shart needed a home, then it ended like that ^^

You just need a roof rack and a couple of ladders now mate ;)

It could not be more different from that now, I think I could drive right past you at ace and you wouldn't notice, it's changed that much since you last saw it. For a start, it isn't the browny blue colour that it was!

Another update and a great mod which means I am actually looking forward to us getting a bit of rain!

Bought some aero arms and wipers from here as I need wipers anyway and had been after doing this for a while but just couldn't really justify the cost from VW. I had flat blades on stock arms before but these look a lot nicer and it's noticeable that the arms are made to take flat blades.

Anyway, a pic and a vid to show that they work as they should!

Just need a Torag rear blade and I can get the Polo rear arm on.

Cheers mate, they are so easy to fit as well, they make the old hook over design look and seem prehistoric. Mine were made easier by the fact the wiper arms had been off recently when Scott attempted to fit the cruise control.

Well well well, another little update for the car.

I am going to be sorting out the suspension and a few of the bushes in a month or so, so I got in contact with 's3Dave' for some of his infamous bars. Here are the pics:

They should be in my possession Tuesday, and will be added to the mound of parts I have accumulated or need to sell.

Dear Diary,

Today I fitted a boost gauge that I have had sat in my possession since Mid December.

I ran the solid hose through the under the scuttle panel when the attempted cruise control install was taking place, so that made that easy. Whipped out the vents , put a bit of a pikey join as the solid pipe wasn't long enough (t-piece with a bung in 1 of the branches), ran it down the trunking that hides the electrics and the rear washer pipes, out by the SAI hole in the airbox, and joins up with the pipe from the inlet mani to the top of the DV.

I'm sure everyone was aware of how to do it anyway!

Boost goes up to about 10psi then trails off, does this seem a bit low for a car with a remap?

Yes, seems low. Log it see what your requesting v actual load, from that you can work out psi.

Not a problem. However from what you've posted the highest requested is 2240 and the actual to be fair isn't far off. 2240 is about 17 psi which would therefore suggest the engine is making good boost and from what I can see there isn't much problem in it meeting the requested. I would think then that maybe the boost gauge has either a leak or it's wrong as it should be seeing more like 13-17psi. The logs are a little hard to follow though as it's a bit up and down but there is definately more that 10psi being made and there doesn't look like any leaks in the charge system.

I am now 99% sure there is a leak to the gauge, after all the vcds logging giving the same result, I think it might be the pikey bodged join i put in it! A joiner has been ordered and I hope it arrives tomorrow so I can get it sorted over easter..

Looks a bit pony now though, anyone know if the s3 washer bottle will fit onto an a3 to fill that gap properly? (I'm assuming the s3 one is bigger?)

Also fitted the little rubber strips back above the headlights.

Car is now at Parsons Performance to get the s3 rears on, which will solve the issue of my grinding rear brakes due to that seized caliper.

A set of s3Dave's tie bars arrived yesterday, and after opening them today, all I can say is they look top notch. If you haven't got them and need some adjustable tie bars, Dave is the man to chat to.

All in all, not a lot of exciting stuff going on in this thread!!

Brakes are done and car feels safe again :rockwoot:

After chatting to someone, they recommended changing the front wishbones and hubs for some s3 ones as they are more adjustable?? Is this worthwhile or not really, and if so, could preface s3 ones fit my car?

The S3 washer bottle is 5.5ltrs & yes to the wishbone's ;)

Subtle!

Does the bottle have a seperate feed for headlight washers, or does it spur off of the pump? And I would also need to see if the s3 bottle would fit the a3, and more importantly have my head examined as to why I am that much of a ponce that I would even worry about it....

And as for the wishbones, are you talking as a salesman or a knowledgeable asn'er?
