I've got a faulty O/S (drivers) unit. Need to get another one - Audi quote £500, so i'm on the hunt elsewhere!
Does anyone know S3 Xenon unit part number?!

Hey Liam sorry for the delayed response mate. It's an issue with the o/s dipped beam. First it was intermittent, if say i went to the garage and switched engine off, filled up, start the car again and suddenly the 'bulb out' symbol flashed up - with drivers beam not working.
Now it just seems to have stopped coming on at all. Had it to the auto eleccy and he recons the bulb's fine, circuits fine, so it must be the igniter in the ballast. Apparently it's a sealed headlight unit and although possible to get into it, would be far simpler to get a complete new unit... the small matter of 500 spondoolies from Audi. So like i say, i'm on the hunt!

The part number no, I don't know.
A second hand genuine ballast on ebay is about £100. I guess any ballast capable of driving a D2S bulb will work??? That's a guess so don't take my work for it - and it wouldn't be straight plug and play.
I have removed the ballast from my Xenons before. So it is possible, it can be done, not for the feint hearted or kack-handed. But if you're looking at forking out on a new unit what have you got to lose?
You can get second hand complete headlight units on here and on ebay from time to time.
The problem with changing the wiring on the Xenon unit is the Red connector that goes on the D2S bulb does not fit between the headlight housing and the halogen reflector.
To remove it you have to (carefully) pop the rubber mounts off the end of the white slider which is attached to the long thread of the aim adjuster. This allows the reflector to be carefully pushed forwards giving you just enough room to pull the connector out.
