F1 Season 2012

It's so nice to see red bull not getting P1. Great start for Mclaren.
Would like to see what Kimi could do in Q3.
Shocking when you look at ferrari. They started developing this year's car early last season and now are way at the back.

When it comes to paying for sky... I would rather buy a bottle of whisky a month than pay 400 quid to watch 20 hours a year which I can watch online for free without any problem...

Id love to see the Mclarens run off and have a one two
The big question ...Will we see Vettel doing any overtaking!!
Alonso qual 12th is not a true reflection on him ..if maybe the car? but id not right him off tomorrow, i can see him going for a 3stopper as he has a fresher/new tyres cos he didnt get to Q3

Sky go and skysports for ipad. 2 new apps for all F1 fans. :)

What a great start of the season :
Vettel lucky with the safety car.
Alonso wasn't that bad as I thought he would be.
Another year I don't understand why Massa is still in ferrari.

What a great feeling it is to hear God Save the Queen.

Good race,Vettel was closing in on Lewis but the safety car timing was good for him.

Well done to Button, he deserved that win. Im thinking this just may be a good season. :)

Always love watching them race around Albert Park, and this one didnt disappoint!

Good start from Button and he got the job done from there :icon_thumright:
Little slip from Lewis at the start, and if he didnt have bad luck he not have any! but a good drive.

Vettel was "lucky with the safety car" ..like Slepy said and he didnt overtake any of the big boys, and again was so lucky with Schumy going out when he did. think he had a good drive but didnt answer any questions for me.

Alonso and Kimi doing well... picked up some good points from where they started on the grid but what was Maldonado in the Williams thinking on the last lap?? best to take the points that was there!

Drive of the day... Sergio Perez 22nd on the grid finished 8th... 4 points in the bag :racer:

I thought it was a great opening race. Well worth getting up for.

I'm not keen on the lead presenter for Sky though. He has the private school boy look going on.

I actually think that he did quite well for the first time. Just not sure what is Georgie there for?

Great race from JB!, really hoped for a Macca 1-2, but safety car helped Vettel out. LH looked disappointed for coming third. Clearly the Ferrari's are not upto pace, Alonso's 5th place came about with everything happening in front of him. I'd like to have seen what MSC could have done if his car had made it to the end of the race! Same story with Kimi, his car seemed to have racepace, but he didn't do much overtaking.

Not many overtaking opportunities here, ever with DRS, were Webber and Hamilton just holding positions for the points in the last 5-10 laps?

Overall a good race to watch for starters, SKY's coverage isn't too bad. The pop out window interviewing the driver's(before they got in the car) during the outlap was a nice touch.

To make F1 sexy?

Enjoyed the race today, I've never really rated Vettel as a good driver. I always believed it was his car doing the work, but he made a hell of a move on Rosberg in the 2nd lap to get himself into fourth place. I still feel he would have finished 3rd if it wasnt for Shumi falling into trouble or the safety car.

I feel sorry for Grojean after a good qualification, I'll be following Lotus this year (after Mclaren of course). They have a great looking team and car. Looking forward to next week!

Let the excuses begin...Drum roll.........................

He told Sky Sports "It just wasn't a good day", but when asked why, he admitted: "I really don't know. I just struggled out there and got a shocking start which was the beginning of it all."

So lets take stock.. Ramilton on pole, lost 2 places and made excuses whilst button once again OWNS him.
Alonso qialified 15th and ended up making up 10 places to finish 5th.. Top result i reckon.

Im just waiting for the Ramilton supporters to suddenly now jump ship to back the flavour of the month Jenson...

Jump ship like you did when you went from Mclaren to Ferrari overnight.... A Brit won today fella, be it Hamilton or Button im pretty damned chuffed to be fair - that's what they call patriotism - you'll learn what that is when you get that education i keep telling you to get.

Sad thing is a knew even though Alonso didn't do very well (again) - you'd come on here to antagonise people, i bet you were itching weren't ya :)

Regardless, you haven't got the rise you wanted, people just merely see you for what you are, yet again... you are now on 'IGNORE' again

laters :)

Well that was a great first race. Got to say though... qualifying was even better!

Button deserved the win. Solid drive. Lewis didn't enjoy coming third did he? Talk about a forced smile! He wears his emotions on his sleeve and if you ask me, that's a good thing. Button is on a high and he's got all the confidence in the world at the moment. So relaxed! Lewis needs to dig deep. I'd say this is a very important year for Hamilton on how he handles things and picks himself up. Maccas look quick over a single lap and in the race (when they've put enough fuel in the cars that is...)

Red Bull just didn't have it in quali. They blamed it on 'mistakes' from the drivers. I recon they are making the mistakes because they are pushing MUCH harder than what they had to last year. If things are easy, you don't risk pushing too hard. It'll be interesting if they start to crack at Red Bull with McLaren having the faster package out of the box. Vettel was lucky with the safety car, but they did have a faster car in the race and that move round Rosberg was just awesome! Would have been nice to see him try and get past Hamilton on the track.

I was gutted with Schuey! I wanted to see how he would get on. Although Rosberg struggled with tyres during the race. The Merc is ****** quick in a straight line though! Can't wait to see what MS will do in Sepang. I just want to see him on the podium again. I think that's quite possible this year. Hopefully maybe a win too if they develop well over the year!

Ferrari.... not started well. Shocking quali form. Credit where credit is due though, Alonso dragged that car to 5th. Just look at what Massa did with the same car? Yes Alonso picked up places with things going on up front, but he put himself in a position to make the most of other's misfortune. One thing is for sure, behind closed doors people will be shouting some loud Italian swear words round the factory and heads will be rolling if they don't sort things out and fast!

How many sleeps till Sepang?! Shaping up to be an epic season!!

Raptor.....yawn.....same old same old.....

Gutted for Schumi, hoped for more but the Merc just doesn't cope over distance.

Driver of the day for me was close between Button and Alonso. Alonso almost had no right bringing that ugly ducking home in 5th, an absolutely monumental job. Maldonado in the Williams also a surprise. But the Button certainly seems to have his race head on from the off, so he is going to be tough for Lewis to beat.

Vettel; gifted 2nd by a lucky safety car - well done.

What a great start to the season, brilliant drive by Button, gutted for Lewis with the loss of place by the safety car. Fair play to Alonso to get into 5th as that car looked shocking in quali, although I dont think Massa will last the season. Was gutted for Maldonado but great to see the Williams up there again. Will be interesting to see what Kimi can do when he gets further than Q1, but the Lotus looks promising. Theres no doubting I want either Jenson or Lewis to be winning but I hope the pack stays as close as it is so it makes for an interesting season, cant wait for the next race now.

reptor your boring as **** fella. thats all i have to say to you. bye bye

very good race, i dont think anyone can be dissapointed about the result really, button job done, vettel quick as always even with a car thats a bit loose compared to last year, lewis done well and drove solid all race, pretty much everyone drove solid including nando with his rear end on that thing. its looking good this year and will be nice for some good battles up top and in midfield.

massa needs shooting imo

the battles that went on in midfield were awesome, kimi, rosberg, kobayashi(so fun to watch) they were all giving it their all.

roll on malayasia

oh by the way, since when is that an excuse? fair enough if he said it was the safety cars fault or team shouldnt have done 2 pitstops in one but he hasnt and he is not finding excuses lol you silly little one

Hi.... weather not looking good for this weekends GP....

Friday is expected to remain dry
Saturday is expected to start off dry with the chance of storms moving in.
Sunday a good chance the GP will be rain-affected

A good grid position will be important

Rain should spice things up somewhat! Not that I think it needs spicing anyway, but it's always welcome!

What your predictions?

If it stays dry, mine is that McLaren will be the team to beat again with Red Bull struggling to keep up/get past because of the long straights. Mercedes might be within a shot as well. I see Ferrari struggling again. No telling what Sauber/Lotus/Williams will do! And if it rains, there's no telling what anyone will do!

I'm hoping Schuey has a better weekend this time round! It's been a long week's wait! :racer:

I think Lewis will put it on pole and then lead start to finish, he'll be wanting to make up for that poor start last week. I cant decide if the Button will qualify in 2nd or if the Mercs or Redbulls will split them but think he'll be on the podium come Sunday. I dont think Alonso will make the podium but could be top 5 again. Still hard to call it as theres Kimi to consider (if he gets through Q1) and his team mate if he doesnt crash out in the race, plus Webber and Seb. Id be surprised if Massa finishes in the top 10 thou.

What's this?

Lewis Hamilton top of the time sheets in first and second practice!!?! what does it mean?, absolutely nothing, but thought I'd mention it!

You a happy guy then Joe? I dont mind Lewis Hamilton, I just prefer Button, lol. Im sure hoping its going to rain this weekend. I find the wet races are better, sorts the men from the boys, lol. Im looking for some good results this weekend so I can stay at the top of the fantasy f1 league. :)

So glad F1 is back. Just smatterring of rain during quali tomorrow and the race on Sunday to mix things up and sort the men out will be good. It's a shame when its humping down and the Sepang circuit turns into a boating lake. Hopefully Button has another good race and I reckon the Merc's are gonna be quick down the 2 big straights even without DRS.

Schumi FTW (been waiting years to say that again)

Ham on pole again and Button second :)
Well done for Schumi!

Hope the Merc lasts/looks after it's tyres reasonably well. P3, clean side of the track, long run to first corner... Come on Schuey!!!
