i have just sold my 24seven dirt jump bike and am now looking to get a new mountain bike,

id love full suspension but i dont think for my budget i will get anything decent. so i think hardtail is going to be the way forward.

obviously the higher the spec the better!

so any suggestions guys?? pics if possible!

Was you into dirt jumping? What type of riding are you looking to do un the future?

With that budget you wanna be looking used tbh that was you'll get good components for you money.

Santa cruz VPFree is a good all rounder and can take the DH hits without a problem.

As mentioned by damo, what sort of thing are you looking to do with it?

Are you looking to buy new or used? There's some reasonable hardtail bikes out there for £600, have a look at bikeradar as they do lots of tests, and then browse the classifieds and see what takes your eye.

I've had my hardtail a couple years now(dont get out as often as I'd like)It's a GT,JUICY disc brakes and BOMBER MARZOCCHI suspension, paid around 600 for it.Know theyre mainstream but Halfords usually stock some good kit for that price. The new Boardman range get a good write up.
Mine pre reflector removal and properly set up-scuse the untidy garden...

just want to do general track riding ups and down cross contry, follow the dogs and the typical monkey trails. that kinda thing,
been to my local mamouth today for a browse and they had a specialized rockhopper, £600 i wasnt all that impressed, is this gonna be all i can get for my price range lol i hope not, have looked on chain reaction cycles.com and theirs some nice bike on theyre but ya cant test em like ya can in the shops, have that first initial sit lol.

thats a nice bike markos i have avids on my jump bike,

But what's your style of riding like, Do you like to throw it about? I'm going off you owning a 24seven, and if thats the case I'd be looking at used with £600 to play with. Or you'll chatter the poor thing within weeks lol.

lol i know what your saying, and yes i loved how nifty my 24seven was, compared to bigger bikes it was very nimble.
but having built my last two bikes, i just want a hastle free purchase, with the reasurance and a few parts garante you get on some of the bikes,

i need to get back into riding. pretty much gave up when i bought a house 7 years ago.

need to stop smoking and get out there. sold my old gt bout 5 years ago but my dad has given me his mountain bike he bought when i was 4, im 31 now! its an old raleigh like a converted road bike. looks really ace and probably very rare.

goo on murran get ya self out there i quit smoking 4 weeks ago after realising how unfit i am!! im only 23 lmao!!!

btw, the cube is in my price range with the 10% discount code. ;-)

24seven make good solid chuckable bikes, did you use it for jumping ?? noticed your in stafford...you ride Cannock chase? not a bad lil set up they got going on down there with some good quarry runs around there if I remember.

go on pink bike . com, and look at the sales in there.
the website is massive, enthusiasts from around the world chat on there and the search function is good.
you will be VERY surprised what £600 gets you for a second hand bike!

except my dads has big mudgards and a rack over the back wheel.

it is pretty damn heavy! very comfy to ride but it doesnt reward you for riding it fast or doing jumps.

*edit* in fact ive found a thread on retro bikes
1985 Raleigh Maverick | Retrobike
^^^ looks awesome.
think i'll bin the mudgards and get on with a bit of recommisioning work today. :)

Looks good.

How long can you get away with keeping it in the house....??!

only managed it for one night lol! need to get my self a removable tow ball and bike rack!!

Looks a great bike - did you get it for £600 ?

My Yeti 575 lives in the house - has the dining room all to itself lol

Part of the reason me buying an S3 was that you can fit a mountain bike inside, though I might consider one of those removable tow-bar things ... I bought a great waterproof boot cover (well pet cover) off e-bay which stops the interior getting dirty and works a treat ...
