My facelift is done!!

The other half has finishe dthe facelift on my TDi and to say I'm please is an understatement!!

How it looked

Using the later spec bumper just some lugs to cut off to use the original foglights

Half way through

Topped off with a carobn fibre bonnet and stealthy black grill

I think the car is transformed and looks mean!

So what does everyone think?

Looks good mate, im dying to get mine done. I notice u didnt go for the s line bumper, can i ask why? If u dont mind how much did it cost you to do including the grille? Im on a limited budget so thinking about doing the same maybe missing out the s line bumper as their so expensive on ebay

I paid £45 for the bumper and £100 for repair/paint, grill was £65. I wanted to freshen it up but keep it subtle.

The carbon fibre bonnet was the big cost but that was the treat, I will post some more pictures tomorrow of that but you can pick up oe ones cheap enough of ebay.

I have the old double grill but mines damaged quite badly, and was debating whether to just get a newer 'old' bumper or do the same as you...
Where did you find the bumper for such a good price?? if you dont mind me asking...

And have you still got the original double grilled one? if so....how much would you want for it (if youre selling it of course)

Got my bumper and grill from ebay when i done mine my reason for bypass the s-line was

1. its a sport so dint want to put sline on without the drop

2. more money which leads me to no 3

3. would of had to get sline fogs and adapt wiring which i did not fancy

so for me just couldnt be botherd with messing around just a simple install

Is that the only thing you bought (as well as the bonnet) to change over?
Just a straight off with old on with new and obviously buy a grille to suit?
No need to buy new wings, new fog lights, any new mountings etc?

you only need new wings for the facelift to the 8P3 model (the newest model out now) the wings are the same on all the 8P1 and 8P2 models , only the bumper and bonnet are required to do it , and then for the s-line the bumper ,fogs, fog grills ,s-line grill and the repair wires

Looks almost like a new car. I'm not totally keen on the carbon bonnet tbh - I leave that to the Evos of the world - but she looks great. Are you running newer style rear lights?

you only need new wings for the facelift to the 8P3 model (the newest model out now) the wings are the same on all the 8P1 and 8P2 models , only the bumper and bonnet are required to do it , and then for the s-line the bumper ,fogs, fog grills ,s-line grill and the repair wires

Am I right in saying the 8P2 is 2005-2008? And 8P3 2008 +So with a bonnet and facelift bumper it will be a direct swap like above?

All a direct swap, take of aluminium reinforcing bar, trim out lugs in picture for original fogs and fit non s line bumper. new grill and bonnet. More pictures below using camera.

Ive read if your upgrading to the facelift, but NOT the s-line then you don't need to mess with the crash bar?

Am i right in thinking you can use any 3dr bumper for this, up till 2008 or 2009 ? After which you need wings etc.

S3 requires more than just Bonnet and Bumper ?

And lastly, the crash bar, you've just left it off? Or modded it to clear whatever the problem was.

Yeah, you can use any bumper uptil 08 I think. You can use the S3 ones in the same time period as long as you trim a bit more off of the crash bar. You need the grill as well.

For the crash bar you leave it on but cut small amounts off in each of the bottom corners. Look at the guids on here for more detail. There are loads..

looks really nice! the fk grills are spot on with the wider slats... made the front of mine look so mean when i did the s-line upgrade.

Ive read if your upgrading to the facelift, but NOT the s-line then you don't need to mess with the crash bar?

the crash bar does not need to be touched unless you are upgrading to the S3 bumper, its only then that the crash bar only needs a little trimming on the edges to allow the S3 bumper to fit.
