Hi, I have the MMI colour with 2007 Europe, no 3D View.

How do I get the latest 2011 with 3D view? Is it a matter of just buying the new DVD or do I need to go to the dealers and get it pluged in and update the software?

I see people are selling copies on eBay and Gumtree. Link Here
Are these any good and work 100% like Genuine or do they have problems?

Also need the latest version for my A3 RNSE. Again the Copies are they good? Some chap is offering a deal £50 for the 2.

TIA

Bump on this!

Also what other options does the 2011 give over the 2007? Does it offer a split screen with directions on LHS of screen?

they are alot cheaper from the dealer. or for a small fee i will post to you to loan and then return

Gavin - I'd also be interested in loaning your disks if at all possible? I have an 07 plate A6 Avant with the full MMI system. Out of interest, would you know why Navteq no longer seem to supply updates and where is the best place to go for an up to date 2011/12 map?

Many thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi, welcome to ASN Tommy. Hope you enjoy the forum. :)

you can obtain the latest maps from the dealer or download and burn to disc.

its old technology so no point in navtec investing any more time in it i guess.

send me a private message and can talk more.

Hi Karbonk,

Just read this post.

How did you get on ? I am desperate to upgrade my sat nav on my march 2011 a6, as it is quite honestly the worst sat nav I have ever used.

Hi all my first post, been lurking and reading for a long time now pulled the trigger and got myself a new to me 2007 a6 avant 2.7 quattro s line.
I wanted to up grade the maps too but really couldnt lay out the 170 the stealers are charging but managed to get a iso downloaded and its done the trick it updated and now works fine. but no 3d etc. so i have then been in to my local audi garage and ordered the 5570 update
.Audi Part Number:- 4L0998961
£5.17 and will be in on wednesday

Is your A6 one of the last of the C6 platform or one of the first of the C7 platform (you will have the screen popping up out the dash if it is a C7)? If it is a C6 then you have the 3G Sat Nav which is either hard disk or DVD based and if it a C7 then it will either be SD Card or hard disk based. As far as I am aware Audi have not yet released a 2012 version of the maps. Even if they have they have now locked the data and so simply replacing the SD card or DVD is not enough as it still requires unlocking by the dealer. The HDD based data has always required updating by the dealer.

Be careful of sources on the Internet. A while back I purchased what claimed to be the 2011 DVD for 3G systems but on receipt it was actually the 2009 data which I already have. Seller refused to communicate with me and I got my money back from Google who also advised me they had ceased to work with that particular trader.

Hi Elan2s,

It is the last of the C6,the nav is the DVD based, Love the car, but the sat nav compared to my previous 08 A4 is just awful,
The car is an S line avant, special edition,

I have the C6 3G MMI which is DVD-based currently working on a 2009 disc (4G0919884A). I have bought a 2011 disc (4G0919884J) which I believe is the latest available. However, owning the disc (or borrowing it) doesn't get you anywhere. The dealer will apparently have to 'unlock' it and register it with Germany. Does anyone know what the dealers charge for this service?

In addition, anyone with a C6 MMI circa 2009 will probably have the annoying problem with instructions at roundabouts, ie: "take the second exit" but before entering the roundabout the confused woman will say "Now turn left". There is apparently a later revision if your version is BNavEU_K0022_D1 like mine. It may cure this. Some owners have reported getting this update carried out FoC by the dealer.

If anyone has been down this track I'd be interested in their experience. Other forums are getting reports of wildly differing dealer assistance and knowledge.

Not sure on how much they charge to update it but probably near 1 hours labour charge I would think.

Yes Audi will update the MMI Firmware FOC as this problem has been escalated to a recall which will be fixed if you ask.

I've updated my 2G MMI to 5570 and I have the 2012 Nav DVD from the stealers. Do I have to get the Stealer to unlock some features on it & register it so I can get the 3D features as mentioned before?

thanks

Nope, it only applies to the MMI 3G so not applicable to your car.

Coach, if you press Map then Setup there is an option for Map Type in there - its not really a 3D view - more like an overview of the map

The 3D models are only avaliable on the 3G HDD Nav

OK Thanks, I'll try that later. My son has a 07 S line with a boot that opens fully off the key fob (comfort option I'm told) do you know if this is available to buy? just looks like additional springs to me!

There are different hinges you can purchase but you wont get the automatic closing unless you spend £5-600 for additional modules, wiring etc.

I will look for the hinges later this afternoon

I'm only interested in the opening. I came to the car yesterday with my hands full, managed to press the key to open the boot but would love to have seen it open like my sons so I could put the load straight into the boot. Instead I had to struggle to lift the boot lid with laden arms.

Chris,

I've been to my local Audi dealer this morning. They brought up the details of my car on screen and checked for recalls/updates. I was shown a screen which said none were available. I said that I knew a later version of software for my car had been realeased.
Also, that I had a 2011 Map update DVD which, when inserted initially offers an "Update" option but goes no further.

The service advisor then said: "I can book you in for a check on your Navigation system but we have a diagnostic charge of £75.00." I said that I would be willing to pay £75 if the result was an updated system and that it included installing my 2011 map version. I added that I would bring with me the details of the 'recall' version number.

TBH, I can see me getting the car back with the software unchanged and a bill for £75. I'll have to make it crystal clear that I won't expect to pay if it doesn't get updated. I'll keep you informed.

Update,

My car has now been in to the dealer and the sw has been updated from BNavEU_K0022_D1 to BNavEU_K0033_2_D1.

However on the map update the technician rang me and said that he had loaded the 2011 DVD which worked for about 1 minute before blocking. He said that the new ones he had loaded (supplied by the dealer) all had a pin code, and thought this was where the problem lay (since I didn't have one - bought used from eBay). It seems that the dealer may be able to unlock the copy I bought at around £75. So I'll now have to go back to the seller and extract a valid pin or a refund - should be interesting. So beware on used/borrowed map updates. It's not as easy as it should be.

I'd also like feedback from anyone who gets the same 3G MMI sw update done and whether they get charged for it.
