2.0 tdi cab (my cousins car) 58,000 miles dealer history......white some and water can be seen from the exhaust, but only sometimes, the car does not lose any water......and theres quite a bit of back pressure when you pull out the dipstick or oil filler cap off........could this be the dpf? cant see the headgasket being an issue ...its a weird one this......anyone?

It only takes a small amount of water to produce the white smoke as I have just found out. I'd get a compression test done on the coolant system and work from there.

I would be concerned about noticeable back pressure fromthe cap cos I have heard that this shows that the crankcase breather is blocked and this might be the white exhaust,A coolant pressure test is a good idea to check that the system is sound

thiss is at the top on the 2.0 tdi?.........top of the rocker/cam cover?

Sorry I dont know the 2.0tdi mines a B6 2.5tdi and I have that earlier versions suffer the blockages and a symptom is this pressure build up
