Hello,

I have spent a bit of time searching the forum with no luck so hopefully someone here can help.

I am looking to retrofit cruise control to my 58 reg tdi but was wondering if I need to get Audi to code it in or can I do it with VCDS? I haven't bought VCDS yet but if it's possible to retro cruise control with it will be a good excuse to buy it I guess.

Thanks for your help.

you can do it with VCDS

Are you sure? When I was looking into it, I had come to the conclusion that the B8 couldn't be coded with VCDS, and would require Audi to do this.

Would love to be proved wrong though.

i saw my mate do his b8 so knew it could be done

Perfect, thanks very much for your help guys. Just found a steering assembly for £40 (used of course) so once I buy a VCDS dongle the cost will equal the £300 Audi wanted, however I will have VCDS :icon_thumright:.

Do you mean a stalk assembly? You may be unfortunate and need a Steering Controller / Slip Ring.

Slip ring with the stalks attached is what I meant bud. Think it may be off an estate though as it has rear wash wipe selection (I think) I'm presuming this function just won't work (I have a saloon) on my car. Do you foresee any probs with using an avant slip ring on a saloon?

Thanks

I think you should be ok mate. Just modify the coding so it's not looking for a rear wiper.

Did you get the lower trim cowling?

No, didn't get the cowling but hopefully Audi won't charge to much for a new one.

Thanks for you're help bud, us Stu's stick together :icon_thumright:

No problem. Pop back and let us know how it goes.

Not sure if it's still the case but on the A3 and older A4's the markings for the enlarged opening were in the cowling so you could dremmel it out if that way inclined.

dremmel is the best not seen an b8 one ill have a look tmoro when im at the unit
save a few ££ if the markings are there
