'Wellycooler' fitting

lol, i don't very often come on here these days mate just saw this thread and made me giggle

im not fussed tbh hahahaa i now have the ah v2, cheers tuffty :)

and i copied the idea for the toyo from another member few years ago but he never had a guide on fitting so i made the guide to help others out...

Dude, I have pointed so so many people to that exact post - noone listens! It's been dubbed the Wellycooler - what can I say? lol

As I have been getting a lot of PM questions about these - thought it might be worth listing what is needed in a thread just about this particular cooler.

For this fitting method you will HAVE to remove fog lights, and is for engines with inlet manifold with TB on the right hand side, and charge pipe layout as per the S3.

Intercooler specs are 600 x 300 x 76mm.

Piping needed:

2 x 90 degree 76mm hard pipes with beaded ends.
2 x 90 degree 76mm silicone elbows in your choice of colour - these will need adjusting to length during fitting.
2 x 90 degree 76 - 63mm reducing silicone elbows in your choice of colour.
2 x 63mm alloy joiners.
2 x 76mm alloy joiners.
1 x 76mm 250mm length of straight silicone hose in your choice of colour. This needs to be cut into 2 lengths of 125mm to go on the end tanks of the cooler.
10 x 70 - 90mm jubilee clips
2 x 50 - 70mm jubilee clips.

Hope that clears things up...

Hi Welly,

Do all the parts in the list above allow for complete installation from charge pipe to TB or does it rely on the OEM upper boost hoses.

Regards,

Yohan

All this stuff connects to whatever upper hoses you currently have...

ok so iv been sent over to audi sport on r-techs recomendations after vistiting them friday to stage 2 my S3 but my ebay intercooler with 50mm inlets was too restrictive.

They told me to go for the welly cooler, iv looked through the stickies and im geting confused as there seems to be different vertions of it and also im not sure how it needs to be piped up. Iv also just seen above that sambryant has gotten one with 64mm inlets so that reducers dont have to be used.

My main concern is to keep the fog lights and grills i see that tuffy has done this with the AH fabrications cooler but that has been fitted with alloy welded tubes.

I am very confused so all of your help and experience would be so helpfull please! So please please please help a guy in need! :)

Thanks in advance

There's a thread in the stickies matey, it's got all the Info you ever need for one. Or look at superkarls (gay) thread as he's got a guide to fitting the cooler with the fogs! If you want to keep the fogs then the pipes have to be welded to the cooler. Badger 5 can do that for you. The rest is very simple, where abouts are you from?

Sorry to correct you gops but what youve said isnt true, you dot have to weld the pipes on to keep the fogs, ive used 76mm to 63mm reducing silicone elbows and kept my fogs.

This is true but don't you have to lose or at least mod the grilles if you wish to keep them and don't the hoses still stick out? I am sure all teh examples I have seen the hoses protrude a little...

Welding the 63mm pipework on is imo the only decent way of making the welly cooler as oem as possible.
I did it, i know bill has done it, and other follow suit sobthey can keep fogs and grills without pipes petruding.

Yes that is correct paul, but i prefer the hoses been there tbh, gives the front a more aggresive/moody look, also my pipes are blackso dos t look chavy either.

alright smarty pants :p but yeah you have to mod the grilles which is what I'm doing!

This is assuming you want the 'Welly' pipes sticking out look of course... the big FMIC thread in the FAQ sticky has alternative fitment ideas if you want something more discrete...

<tuffty/>

So I have purchased the "Wellycooler"

Can anyone let me know the adjusted list of pipes to keep fogs. I have read the intercooler thread but there is so much in there.

with the 90 degree 76mm alloy pipe what length do i need? the choice is from 100mm - 150mm
90° Degree Alloy Aluminium Pipe Bend Elbow - Intercooler Pipework Air Intake | eBay

the 4 straight joiners are 100mm do you think this is ok?

so far off ebay the total is £109 delivered (not including the cooler) also waiting for some people to get back to me on prices which might drop it £80~
