OOh careful there son!! can't go supporting Hamilton, a certain professional spectator will accuse you of being 'not a proper F1 fan' :)

whats 1tb about then? i know it means 1 terrabyte but what is the difference and what are normal ones?

hate this advert fying round about sky F1, my juices flow everytime i hear the engine. cannot wait

Its about 5 times the size hard drive matey (i think thats accurate) - its much bigger anyways ;)

Just a few short weeks to go now. Time is passing too slowly, lol. :)

Now that testing is in full swing, I thought I'd poke my head in here and see if things are different. And I can see it's the same old song and dance lol. Although he's gone quite for a few days... So we'll see.

Couple of things I wanna say... Firstly, I've got Sky HD so I'll be watching the races no problems at all. People were quick to blame Sky taking it from free to air BBC. I lay the blame squarely at the BBC's door for this one. The fact is they were contracted to show F1 until the end of this year I think it was, but they blew pretty much their entire budget on the Olympics, so they had to axe F1 before their contract ran out because they didn't have the money. The we're breaking records with the numbers they were bringing in with their coverage and they still got rid of it! What does that tell you?!

Now that Sky have taken it on, no doubt they will do an awesome job on it. Their website covers testing in great detail and post a couple of videos a day interviewing Brundle and Ted Kravitz on the day's testing. And to have a dedicated F1 channel showing not only F1 but also live GP2 and GP3? I'll take that thanks! I'll be looking forward to in detail technical side of things with Kravitz and Brundle. Now they have the time, it won't just be a rushed quick video that lasts for 60 seconds like it was on the BBC.

On the racing... It's gonna be a great season me thinks. Should be much closer than it was last year. This is going to be the longest 2 weeks ever! Although with Sky going live on the 9th, I'll have my fix soon! Red Bull should still be strong, McLaren look strong too. Ferrari are struggling, but should still be reasonably quick, Lotus looks strong, and being a Schuey fan, I hope to god Mercedes up their game this year!

Couple of other points. Rubens has gone to Indy racing and Kimi is going to be on Top Gear next weekend.

Sundays will come alive again!

Really looking forward to this, can't say i'm going to invest on the F1 channel, but the truth is, I sometimes miss a few races due to work and family commitments, Sunday is Family day, and my son if actually getting into the idea of F1, which is all good!

I can't wait for the season to start.
The sky advert got the juices running.

Still can't tell who has the fastest car?, everyone is up there in testing! Should be an interesting first race!! :racer:

Final pre-season test, Barcelona - final day fastest times

1 Kimi Raikkonen (Fin) Lotus-Renault 1:22.030

2 Fernando Alonso (Spa) Ferrari 1:22.250

3 Bruno Senna (Brz) Williams-Renault 1:22.296

4 Nico Hulkenberg (Ger) Force India-Mercedes 1:22.312

5 Kamui Kobayashi (Jpn) Sauber-Ferrari 1:22.386

6 Lewis Hamilton (GB) McLaren-Mercedes 1:22.430

7 Vitaly Petrov (Rus) Caterham-Renault 1:22.795

8 Michael Schumacher (Ger) Mercedes 1:22.939

9 Pastor Maldonado (Ven) Williams-Renault 1:23.347

10 Daniel Ricciardo (Aus) Toro Rosso-Ferrari 1:23.393

11 Sebastian Vettel (Ger) Red Bull-Renault 1:23.608

I wouldn't read into that too much Jo. Consistency is key. McLaren and Lotus looking very consistent on long runs. Lotus really has upped it's game by the looks of things. Red Bull, still strong. Ferrari... well the indications are they are really struggling at the moment!

Alonso did mostly 2-4 lap runs today on the softs/super softs. He'd bang his lap time in and then the times would drop off a good second and a half by the 3rd lap. He could only get 5 odd laps out of the mediums before his times 'fell off the cliff'! They were drenching the car in that luminous paint to see what the aero is doing. Seems the Fezza is eating it's tyres. They've admitted that they are 'behind schedule' and that they 'don't understand the car'. After taking both Alonso and Massa away from the press so they can't be interviewed, things don't look good for the Scuderia. No more testing until Melbourne now.

Still, things are going to be very interesting up front with Lotus in the frame, Merc showing good signs of improvement, and Sauber suddenly showing some pace. Although some are saying they are glory runs to attrack sponsors. Everyones secrets will be out come quali for Melbourne! Bring it!

. Although he's gone quite for a few days... So we'll see.

Yawn. Lets see how many of you "Stick your heads in" when Ramilton makes an *** out of himself for the 3 year running shall we..Yawn.

Sky installed yesterday (cancelled Virgin!) - just so i could have it in HD!

Wife isn't too pleased about losing Virgin's catch-up TV service but that was a sacrifice I just had to make! ;)

C'mon Button!!!

But you now have sky anytime+ if you have connected your sky HD+ box to the Internet and I'm led to believe it is a far better service

Thing is you need to subscribe to the Sky Broadband service as well to get the Anytime+ feature :(
No way am I losing my Virgin broadband (40meg :) ) service!

In what way is Anytime+ better than Virgin Catch-up?

A bit sore are we considering Ferrari's pig of a car :)

I wonder if you'll provide any proof of your yawning comments this year and back them up with figures from your favourite driver to compare :) my guess is not as this will reduce your argument to wet salt.... Don't forget, Nando got whooped by a rookie in the same car which means he's technically no better than second class ;)

Have you got that education yet?
When's the new term start?
Bought any sweaty F1 mechanic tops lately?

There was never a truer F1 fan with a warped deluded bias :)

Guys, can we please keep this thread frendly so that we can all enjoy the forthcoming racing.

Shame it's only half a season for me :noway:

Nah I barely watch any TV. No point really.

Am looking forward to it,saw a few programmes on the channel last nite.

Its going to be an interesting season. :)

Hi all, not long now to... look but never stare!!

imo about the sky/bbc thing, there's only one man to blame and thats Bernie F1 commercial rights holder (Mr Greeeeedy), he dont care about F1 (or the fans )only that it makes him big money and if you dont give him what he asks, he will take it elsewhere, why do you think its gone from the bbc to itv then back to the beeb, its just to play them against one another. if the bbc didnt want it i think thay'd give it all away not just keep half the races.

The only worry i have is sky keep using the word.. "FREE" its not free, you pay for it with the sports or HD package!
Now i dont think anyone will expect sky to air F1 for free, and the package at the mo sounds fair to me........ but what will thay start to charge when Mr Greeeeeeeeeedy Ecclestone asks them for more money year after year? Sky can double their prices where the beeb cannot.

so i just hope the BBC will stay with F1 and get higher viewers the weekends when F1 is on Sky and the BBC the same time.

A little birdie told me the red button on sky f1 hd will allow the viewer access to a wealth of views/info/data

For all you guys and girls out there with Sky Sports subscription, go to itunes app store, download the free app called Sky Go, it will ask you for your sky details and you will be able to watch on your ipad or iphone. :)

well ive watched the Sky show the other night and realised one thing............. i miss jake, eddie and DC lol gona take a few weekends to get used to a new team but glad brundle is still with us and ted as they know the sport inside out. im looking forward to it now.

p.s done a little vid in my car yesterday so thought id show it to my fellow F1 fans(except reps :)) we still love you darling)

Quality video, sounds really good. I see your road surfaces are nearly as bad as some here in Scotland. )

Sooo, anyone want to make any predictions? Sensible ones mind, not the who takes who out type!

It would not surprise me one bit if Vettel sticks his Redbull on pole in the first race, I think Ferrari will struggle, and McLaren should be in the top 3. Surprise package of the season could be Lotus and Kimi. Six world driver champions in the mix, we've not had it any better have we?

Who is S3twonkey?? I drive an S4 mate and a ****** nice one too lol

If that pic of a Ferrari garage was for me I don't understand? Still empty though as the cars are in the tunnel trying to get an aero package together

nice vid S4twiggy, i was trying to workout what road you was on? A4095 lol
like to see a vid straight out front or from the back of the car. :icon_thumright:

predictions 2012... i dont know about predictions but imo Lewis is the best driver out there, just hope Mclaren give him a car as good as Red Bull.... Lewis just needs to workout he dont need to win every race.

Button is a better driver now than when he was lucky to win in 09, but he knows if something isnt working he will try anything diffrent, like change to wets or drys before anyone else. i think its more luck than judgement but you make your own luck.

Vettel, i guess we all know hes quick in qualifying and when out on his own...... lets hope we see him have a shocker in qualy and see what hes like in a crowd?

I like Webber but he needed to do better with the best car of 2010 and 11.. its to late for him now and if red bull have a bad year, i cannot see him there next year.
I'd not bet ag......... (omg i just heard bbc's add for this weekend F1..Fleetwood mac Chain ""Shivers"" ) :racer: :rockwoot:
I'd not bet against Alonso, love to see Ferrari give him a quick car out of the box in OZ.

Massa... I dont understand any driver who just drives for his teammate?

Can only see Kimi top 10 at best in a Lotus

Two Drivers i'd like to see do well... Paul di Desta off the back of a good 2011 season, and Bruno Senna again had a good end to 2011
