Should my S3 be faster???

I think I might sell my S3 and haven't even had it long. Just not loving it :(

Not a car you'll ever fall in love with mate, they're a jack of all trades which makes them hard to beat in terms of a package but they miss something still. I like mine for all the practical reasons, but it never makes me grin from ear to ear.

jap crap? honda and bmw are the only car manufacturers to produce a 100bhp per 1 litre of engine naturally aspirated,so not so crap hey

No they're not...

- Audi
- Caterham
- Ferrari
- Lexus
- Lotus

...are just a few that have produced (and still do) cars that exceed that not so magical stat. Its not much to shout about these days.

well...revive this thread :)
Noticed that I do infact have a split in a pipe...it's the one at the back of the engine bay, it's an elbow. connects to the end of the long metallic pipe on the left hand side of the engine bay. I've purchased a forge silicone one off ebay thankfully.

My question is, how much of an effect would this have made to my car? the split was a common one i think, round the circumference where it "interferes" with the mattalic pipe edge.

Let me know how you get on with the new pipe mate because i think Ive got a leaking pipe from the pressure relief valve (something to do with the ESP?!?) anyway its a pipe of the TIP and also been told off Audi the DV might be on its way out, The power doesnt seem right at low end until about 3500rpm?? Unless any genuis on here can tell me any different what my problem may be..

When I first got it, good boost from 2000-2500 and up but now sluggish then boom feels like the turbo is doing something but only from 3500rpm upwards!!

******* me off!! The EP3 wouldnt have had any problems I think I can confidently say!!!

A split on that pipe means you could be losing alot of boost. Could make a big difference.

A friend of mine had a dc2 and I couldnt stand being in it. The drone was awfull, inerior was not a nice place to be and the power off tec was pitiful although this was helped greatly by a spoon flywheel.

Everyday car not in a million years, fun for a track day or a very spirited weekend run, yes.

Put it this way. What makes all the power on a turbo car?

The turbo will be doing all the hard work blowing boost out of that split and not into the engine. The forge pipe will sort you right out.

Bingo, hopefully fit the bad boy today :) then I shall let everyone know. would this by any chance make my car go into limp mode?

There is a possibility that you're going into soft limp mode which can be reset by turning the car off then on again. Get that new hose fitted and let us know how it is.

That is EXACTLY what I am getting mate!!!!!!!!

I'm all for S3 bashing here, but to get one up to 1800kg you'd have to be one SERIOUSLY fat *******!

1500kg S3, 60l of fuel is 44kg, so you'd need to weigh 256kg to bring it up to 1800kgs, or in normal money, 40 stone.

an S3 with 2 20st Rugby players in it and a full tank would be tipping on 1800kgs :p

100 kg of driver and 50 kg of ice is about normal for the average vag driver these days lol not that far off ;)

I don't fill the tank unless it's a long journey....Keeps the weight down for my lightweight race S3....haha.
