New series of Top Gear

It was a better show, however the keystone cops scenes are just getting worse. I don't think you had to be a rocket scientist to know who was going to win the mobility vehicle race. I mean they were never going to let those wounded soldiers come last!

I did find the electric car informative, although it would be nice if they could show cars that are affordable. Most cars they show are only available to 2% of the population because of the enormous cost.

I thought last night's episode was quite good. The Fisker piece I thought was good. The 4x4 bit, got goosebumps when they started mirroring the ice track with Silverstone. I found the mobility scooter bit quite funny TBH. So for me the whole episode gets a thumbs up. And yes, HUGE improvement on last week!

I look at it differently. If I want to see what a new Mondeo is like, I'll buy WhatCar or whatever the mag's are these days. I enjoy watching a big expensive supercar that I'll probably never get to drive getting it's tail out round corners. Top Gear is about having your inner child come out. And I don't know about you, but I had posters of a Ferrari F40, Bugatti EB110, and the Lambo Diablo on my walls.

I can pop into my local Ford dealer to see/drive the new Mondeo.

Tonights top gear looks intersting, Jeremy will be in gran turismo maserati and mercedes and Matt Smith (dr who) is the star in the reasonably priced car.

Again, a better episode tonight, loved the Skoda and the jet pack man!

I also liked reminiscing about the Saab Turbo.

i enjoyed it also, i loved the Maseratti, oh and Matt Smith, lol.

SITRPC is the low point of all these shows I think, it purely depends on who the guest I suppose, but I never seem to really know any of them anymore! Maybe that's just me.

The rest of it was good, maybe the best show this series? The SAAB feature was great, reminiscent of TG of old, the 99 Turbo is sub zero, and I thought the whole feature was very interesting and well done. Jet man vs Skoda was ok, but a bit tenuous I thought. C63 vs Maserati was good, £85 a mile in tyres lol!

SIRPC needs to go I think.
I tend to skip past it if I can.
Most of the stars I don't know or don't really care for.
May be if they had more interesting people on there it would be a bit better.
That Matt Smith guy is the new Dr Who and needs a ****** hair cut. He reminds me of Mods & rockers or possibly the Teddy Boys, either way SIRPC is crap now.

Skoda and Jet man was just a time filler and not very good really.
Not that interesting and Hammond is a bit of knob at the moment. Turning in to the joker, cheeky little scamp but not playing it very well.
His jokes are too scripted, to childish, to idiotic and just plain crap!!

All ways nice to see some super cars or at least cars you can dream about owning.

The Saab segment was one of the best yet, I agree with James, " reminiscent of TG of old". 100%. really good, very Informative and interesting.
Needs more of that each episode I think, a nod to iconic cars or makers over the years would be great. I will miss Saab :(

I think James May is a really good presenter on top gear. So is Clarkson, as much stick as he gets and as much hate, he is entertaining even with his baffonity.
More of May & Clarkson and less of Hammond.
Sack him, I'll give it.
I'm just not very good in front of the camera. :)

It was a good bit on SAAB at the end but I thought they could have done more on the c900 model.
I have owned 6 SAAB's over the years ( 1x99TS, 1xc900T16S and 3 9-5's ) and they were great cars. The 99T had water injection which gave it 175BHP which was pretty good for a 1980 car but it had immense turbo lag which was slightly improved on my c900 with a mitsi turbo.
One day again I'll have another 99 or c900.

I think that SITRPC is becoming an advertising space for celebs to get their future gigs out, due to the audience TG brings to the table.

Yep, was definitely the prime slot to be on when BBC fired Jonathan Ross and celebs had nothing to appear on BBC prime time to flog their rubbish. I was expecting a downgrade of stars now that Graham Norton has taken over the Ross slot on Fridays, but it's still a mix of some people I've never heard of (e.g. at the episode I was at a year ago it was Amber Heard who just happened to be flogging her movie with Nicholas Cage) and some big stars like Matt LeBlanc a few weeks ago.

As before, I recorded and watched it later. FFWD it through the Skoda/flying man bit, which was fortunately not too long, but watched the rest of the show. Agree with SITRPC comments - that's only worth watching if you have an interest in the guest.

One thing that still bugs me is that every week Clarkson says 'Who'd like to see xxx's practice laps' and then 'Who'd like to see his hot lap'. Surely he can say something different? Or one week the audience should get together flash mob style and when he says that shout 'No'.

was that rocket race released early on the web or had it been done before as Im sure id seen that bit before ...................

Yea that what i was thinking, i thought it was a repeat at the start until i checked the date

Settled down to watch top gear, sounds like it could be good tonight. Time will tell. :)

It was quite good Scott. Loved the section about the 'track day specific' cars. Star in a reasonably priced car was quite good too for a change.

Alex James I think from blur. It was one of the better episodes lately. Think a review on the rs3 would help, and a challenge where they use turbo charged estate cars.

Is this repeated tonight?
My broadband connection is too slow for iPlayer.

cheers

I saw the car of my dreams on it

Those Bentleys are hardcore.

I did laugh out loud when they panned to Hammond obscured behind the Q5 :lmfao:

I did not like this week's episode. I suppose the most exciting part was the possibility of hearing a Merlin engine fire up, but even then they disappointed us.

Last episode of the current season, lets hope its a good one. For all us F1 fans, we have Kimi Raikonen in the reasonable priced car, also got Slash ( guns n roses ) in reasonable priced car tonight as well. :)

Last one already!?

Afraid so Joe, but at least we have F1 starting next week and the moto gp and bsb starting up soon. Wsb has already started. :)

Talk about save the best for last! Definitely the best one for a while. The sound of the Ferrari was immense, but I would've been going mental at them school kids. A thoroughly enjoyable episode.

Paul, have to agree with you. It was a very good show. I loved the Ferarri, the racing was entertaining, kimi was his usual quiet self, Slash was exceptional on the guitar. :)

A good end to a mixed series, loved the first episode, very much enjoyed the last and I'm sure there was some alright stuff in the middle! Lamborghini exhaust flame did it for me.

Yeh I thought it was ok too. The California in town and with the school kids was clearly staged, but out on the open road it was great. Kudos for Chris Evans letting May drive off in the rain!

Cought up with the last episode on iPlayer. I enjoyed it. Overall I thought it was a good series. A couple of misses, granted. But there were some great pieces too. And the way Slash closed off the programme...!

Kudos for Chris Evans letting May drive off in the rain!

Lol did you notice though, Chris told him to avoid standing water, and close to the end of the video he goes and drives though a MASSIVE puddle! Lol
