Newbie with emmision light question.

Can anyone help me with my emmision light problem, when i turn on ignition the amber light stays on until i start the engine, i,m sure it never use to, had the car 2 years and have only just noticed it, am i worrying about nothing or is this the start of some trouble any help would be great, my car is A3 1.9 tdi 2007 and has 104K miles

i think it does stay on with the ignition on...... as long as it goes out a couple of seconds after start up and stays out when running.

if in any doubt go and have the it code read for faults.

Yes it goes out as soon as engine starts, cheers for your help, great site have enjoyed reading posts on forum learnt a lot of stuff i didn,t know.

thats normal mate:>. Besides how would you be able to check emission without actual gasses going through the exhaust? This is only available when engine is running.

yea thats how it is supposed to work if it stays on when the engine has been started thats when you have problems like mine lol

Having the emissions light on all the time can only mean something has failed. Take it to a garage and get the code read. Where abouts are you? Someone on here might be able to give you a hand.
