De-Chroming Front Grille Surround and Badge

Hi all!

As above, how would I go about doing this?

Remove the grill. Pop chrome surround off the. Wrap it in chosen vinyl. Other method is to spray it...but that'll chip off with stones and washes etc.

To remove grill ideally you need to remove bumper to try and not break the securing clips!

The grill surround just pulls off. Be gentle. Easy job. Sand, undercoat, spray and lacquer it. 7 odd coats in total will do job. Nice and easy and looks great.

+1 on the vinyl that way you won't be re- doing it every 12month due to stone chips.
Personally I think matte black looks good on the grill surround due to the grills being matte, makes a massive difference up front for very small costs.

If no one bangs a pic up dude pm rubbarb (Chris) I did his surround and it looks really well against the silver paint. Or sift the pics sticky, but you may be in there a while

I baught gloss black rings from ebay, then vinyl wrapped the surround.

Painted the one on my old car, and it just chips off and looks **** after a few months if you do any sort of mileage in the car.

Minrs done in vinyl mate. I get it via my suppliers but there is loads on the bay, just make sure you buy a premium cast vinyl or it will just end up on the floor lol.

You can get better stuff like 3M etc. I've had no issues with this though. Been on 2yrs aswell.

Ye I only use 3m or avery. But its quite pricey compared to others. I was trialling KPMF Premium cast on my grill as a cheap option and tbh for little things like that it's ok and it's on three grills in here and all still looks ok as far a I know.

I'm a convert but already sprayed the upper grill matt black.

Has anyone wrapped the lower grill surround on an S3...If so, lets see it. That can be my first wrap.

Yep, not the best pics but all detaining is done in 3m 85 seriese CV3 gloss black
