New shape S line steering wheel on a 2003 audi a3

i've got work off on monday so gona have ago at fitting these parts, where abouts is the ecu mdule situated? i've read some where its in the middle dash bit undernieth where the ash tray is?
Harris, I've had a bad day so far but this just tops it off !!
At the risk of getting banned from this forum I'm going to suggest to you that you are not capable of doing the job so forget it and get someone who is !
If you don't even know where the steering module is then how the hell do you think you are going to do it ? I'ts nowhere near the ashtray !
What happened to Bez ? Have you got the right tools (or any ) ?
You have been advised many times and have chosen to ignore the advice.
Please, please, please do NOT mess about with something you obviously don't understand and pay someone who does know how to do it for you
Sorry but I have to agree, I dont think its a good idea you start messing with airbag systems & other modules if you dont have the tools to diagnose & dont have the knowledge to know where things are, the reason I say this is purely to save yourself making some very costly mistakes.
You bought a rather problematic car, you should get someone with knowledge & experience to work on it for you, sorry but thats a fact fella.

if you read 6 posts up bez is helping me with his vagcom and fitting the wheel and slip ring, when i said ecu module i meant the air bag ecu module which i think i am right in saying it is situated in the lower middle dash part, so i dont know where you got steering wheel module from?.. :s

You do know that the airbags are activated with explosives don't you ?
p.s. just out of interest, how old are you ?
okay well i went to the garage today, to get it fitted and their not gona be free until tuesday/wednesday, i have the day off work on monday so i thought i would just give it a go, i just thought if i removed the centre console and had the battery disconnected i could have a go at replacing the ecu and then if i remove pillar A, pillar B and pillar c (driver side) remove the grab handles i should be able to pull back the roof lining to remove and replace the curtain air bag and the seat belt tensioners should be a stight swap i take it and if i cant do it i'll put everything back and wait till wednesday but at least then i can say i've tried myself, the only reason i asked on here was to get a little help on the destination of the airbag ecu module even though i was 99% sure i knew where it was.
Obviously so young as to not know how to use the shift key on the keyboard. Probably still at nursery school!!

but i think hes a bit ****** at the faults the car has got and trying to keep costs down by trying to fit parts him self
he knows i will do the wheel and rind and code it back up
but as im meeting him on way to see my son i dont have that much time
now if he could get the car to me in sheffield i could get it all fitted for him and try and i meen try to sort the rest of the problems out

what has my age got anything to do with fixing my car? i just dont understand, i dont think theirs anything wrong with trying to have a go yourself, and bez i can get to sheffield that isnt a problem, whens best for you? thanks for your help

i find this forum 1 if not the best im a member of
im also on stoc gti etc good lads but any real issue doesnt get an answer its more modding over there and no real knowlage ov takeing things apart and fixing

monday is no good for me ill still be in wales till midnight
tuesday to saturday i'm working nights and starting at 3pm, i could get to sheffield in the morning if you want and hopefully get back for work, i've just checked the sat nav its a 1 hour 45 mins drive or tomorrow when i go in to work i'll see if i can change my start time till like 5pm or something like that, is their any day thats gona be better for you, so i can ask to start later on that day?
Good on you mate - just for goodness sake get his feet back on the ground and explain to him the realities of working on a complex piece of engineering like a car, not to mention an expensive, up-market marque (?) is not to be trifled at. He clearly does not understand what he has bought and I hope very much that it isn't going to be an ongoing problem for him.
Also please try to get him to understand that every reply he has received has tried to advise him what to do and what not to do and his decision to ignore the advice is purely indicating his non-understanding of the whole concept.
That is why I asked his age, and, just in case he is still unsure of quote ' what has my age got anything to do with fixing my car' unquote, it should now be clear to him that it has everything to do with it ! No problem with the desire to have it done but every problem to do with trying to blindly sort it out with absolutely no experience or knowledge.
Perhaps he should concentrate on getting the rest of the car sorted first and then see if it's worth doing the upgrade ?
I've listened to the advice and i agree I'm not the right person to fit these items, i need someone with more knowledge. I've had many cars, including in the last 12 months a VW golf mk 41.8T and a Honda civic type r so i know how much of a complex piece of engineering a car is not to mention how expensive the parts are, so i was aware of the type of car i was buying. thanks for the comments and i think I've hit a nerve with some people that i completely didn't want to do, i love this forum, i always have a good read and learn new things and love how helpfully every one is. sorry
I dont think so, I just think you need to listen to some people with a little bit more knowledge on a car that you have issues with, its not about **** swinging mate, its about trying to help you & save you money along with not damaging more things on the car, thats all its been about for me, couldnt care how old you are as I'd say the same to a 60 years old lol.
with the help of forum member 'the usual suspect' the airbag and the esp light are now off, we fitted the drivers side curtain airbag, 2004 steering wheel, airbag and slip ring and had to do alot of messing around with the vagcom.
My penny's worth..
They give 04 wheels away on the bay. Great shame because i just took one up the tip from my 04, 3.2 having advertised it for £20 with an airbag and got no response.
The 04 wheel is a better looking bit of kit as well. this was mine
Do not mess with the wheel or airbag or wiring full stop. Get the right wheel and airbag so you know for certain the bag will work. I fitted a 08 flat bottom wheel to my 04 and it never had an airbag light come on so that tells you nothing. If you want a working airbag for sure get the right parts.
Sorry for digging up an old thread but i was just wondering if this wheel came without the dsg paddles?....can only seem to find them with the paddles and dont really want the hassle of the different airbag setup etc.
