Low temperature running

Hello folks

I just purchased my 2001 S3 with 100k, running stage 1 on Sunday.

On the run back from York to Sheffield I noticed nothing wrong.

However when driving to work today, (warm midday) it took around 7 miles and standing traffic before it got to temperature (90)

Coming home tonight 2200hrs, after 9 miles it was only between 60-70, when getting to 70 it would drop down to around 65.

If I drive the car hard...obviously the temperature goes up....but the mpg goes down lol

Should I be worried about this? The cam belt and water pump was done at around 77k.

Would the remap make any difference?

I'm thinking thermostat or engine temp sensor?? But im no mechanic

Sounds like thermostat mate, easy DIY fix!

Thermostat probably. The engine temperature sensor would effect how the computer controls and delivers your boost.

So if you are boosting fine, then it should point towards the thermostat.

The map would not effect engine temperature.

If you say so buddy... It's a betch of a fiddly job... I'd devote a day to it. Lots if swearing and head scratching (and tool finding if your as unorganised as me)

I wouldn't say a day, I managed to change mine without removing the alternator in an hour

Lol! I nearly gave up on that bottom bolt! I got it done in 2-3 hours and most of that was trying to get that one bolt undone!

Its booked into my local garage on Tuesday for the thermostat.

I noticed a a little bit of water , football size print on the tarmac this morning....hope this isnt a different issue and the stat will sort it!!
