First of all Hello to everyone,
I used to own a B6 Avant A4 and hope this is the right forum for my (soon to be)new car which is a 57 (08 reg) Audi A4 (170) re -mapped to 231bhp.

Anyhow first thing is does this year and model have the electronic handbrake, is it worth keeping the DPF (I am aware of its function but there seem to be a lot of peeps having problems caused by the DPF) what other common faults does this model tend to have or is it pretty much the same as the B6?

This car also comes with Sat Nav what is the @ cost of getting an updated disc, are they easily to purchase or is it a main dealer only?

Thanks to anyone who answers my questions I hope to learn a lot from this forum as time goes on.

Cant help as new here myself but would like to know what mpg it is doing with the map. I planned on a 170 and having the dpf removed same time as mapping. Might change to 140 as it seems less problematic.

Hello & welcome to ASN
57 plate owner here, no electronic handbrake.
Some have had issues with DPF, personally I haven't, currently @ 64k.

Jump on the search button fella, you will find threads on DPF & other issues.
Make sure it has had the recall for injectors & looms.

All in all I'm very happy with my 170.

Injectors looms !!!!! WTF what have I missed ??? How do I get this sorted do I have to contact a main dealer and is a job that will take a long time etc etc (what I mean is I have a work 6 days per week and commute to work 30miles away!) Looks like I have majorly f up here

Would someone be kind enough to explain the process I need to undertake if it hasnt had the required recall done, and how do I know if it hasnt will it appear on some service history ??

Ring your local Audi stealer, give them the Reg number, they will be able to tell you if it has been done.

Macdoon - can I ask what MPGs your getting from your 170?

What type of driving do you do - i.e. long journies rather than lots of short ones (the ones that apparently cause the DPF to play up)

I've got a meeting with the dealer friend of mine this afternoon and I'm still unsure if I'm going to ask him to look for a 140 instead.

Re mapped to 231 and it still has the DPF in place? Are you sure? Is it PD or Common rail, 57(08) could be either?

Tunes usually have to be quite mild with DPF still in place for a number of reasons. That seems a big increase without removal. If the tune is too much then you may be at risk of premature DPF blockage.

Met with my dealer friend and he's got a 170 for me. For better or worse the deed is done :)

Lion - do you do mapping? Likely to be in for a DPF removal at some point.

Yup, I was going to query that as well. Usual safe states of tune for a 170 with DPF is about 210bhp tops.

Can I ask a seperate question regarding the Sat Nav.

If the car has the RNS-E Sat Nav system does that mean it has Bluetooth as well? My mothers has bluetooth and I would like the same. I know the car has Sat Nav but on the BCA website it didn't state Bluetooth.

Around £200+ from any Audi dealer, but often on eBay for a lot less. But don't be tempted by a cheaper copied DVD, get a genuine one as copies can cause the laser in the DVD drive to overheat and fail. P.S. you can't play DVD videos in the drive in the sat nav.

If you update the disc will it read UK post codes?

If my 170 doesn't have the Bluetooth module I assume its not a big issue to fit it?

Thanks for that.

Its annoying because I don't know if the car has bluetooth. I've seen pics of it on the BCA website and I've looked through other listings and it only says Sat Nav, it doesn't specify if the car has Bluetooth already fitted. Its got rear parking sensors which my mothers SLine hasn't so perhaps the original purchaser wasn't too stingy with the options list.

Already have a list of little mods:

Rear RS4 ARB
H&R Springs
Black grille
Carbon interior trim
Front splitter
EGR clean
DPF removal and map
Get Audi to check the injectors
Fit Bluetooth if it hasn't already got it
Monitors in the rear headrests would be cool too
Rear parking camera looks cool
Puddle lights front and rear
Flat bottom steering wheel
Maybe change the alloys but not actually sure which ones it has (I like the 5 spoke SLines rather than the RS mutli spoke type jobs) like LM reps but not sure I want the 19s if its too firm.

Should keep me busy (and broke)

As with BMW, Mercedes everything on the audi is an optional extra mine came with interior lighting pack and lots of other bits but no bluetooth which I've retro fitted as my last post, if it's oem fitted all you need to do is scan with your phones bluetooth to see if it's installed. Also the oem unit if fitted will be under the passenger seat, Retro fits like mine are on top of the glove box. HTH

Anyone having DPF issues click the link in my Sig for group buy thread there's a cracking cleaner on offer if you have concerns about removing it
As for 231bhp with DPF still in don't seem right to me ill check with a member on here who dies remaps as said above I've only heard of 200-210 max with DPF

It's in an A3 but the engine is the same; DPF firmly in place and has been for 10,000 remapped miles

Give me a shout if you want the same treatment ;)

Sat nav discs are cheap enough on Ebay, luckily I managed to use the disc our of dads R8 to update my RNS-E, mine updated with the 2010 disc but is still running on the 2006 disc, but now updated to 2010.
