Ok story goes- my 2004 Audi a4 1.8t was stalling when idle and I couldn't drive it at all. I unplugged the maf and it was ok on idle and I could drive. Therefore it led me to believe I had a faulty maf. I ordered a new one and it turned up today. So I got the old one out and put the new one in and plugged the electrics into it expecting to start the car and it be fine. But nope it does exactly the same as before just stalls on me so I unplugged it and started the car again and its fine so if it's not my maf what is it?

i dont no the name or if the 18t have it but my tdi has a sensor on the pipe that runs to the intercoler this is also to do with the air sistem there is a black pipe running along the back of the engine on mine gose from the turbo i think to the coller 2 screws holding it in very easy to see and clean/change if need be
Have you had your car scanned, might give you a better idea where to look, does it stall straight away at idle or is it lumpy and then stalls?? maybe crankcase breather valve there is a recent thread about it, helped me out massively when i had a really lumpy idle, and saved me a fortune, these are a really commen fault on 1.8t's

scan it first...... theres been a few on here recently with crankcase breathers causing this sort of issue, but there also the throtle body cleaning and resetting which are all simple jobs and not to pricey
I had the same and it was a faulty NEW Bosch MAF, replaced the replacement and it's been good ever since
