Hey guys,

First post on here and just a quick question re the above. I am looking into trading down for something more "sensible" than my TTS and have come across a few Black Edition A4 avants that I like, preferably 2011. Some Black edition cars have all the Black Edition spec except for the privacy glass which I am unsure as to why ?

Any clues ?

I think the privacy glass really adds to the car so may even consider getting a dealer to add it before I were to buy. They cant advertise a car as Black Edition if it doesn't have the required details can they ?

Cheers

That is strange as it is part of the spec, but I guess someone could have ordered it without. I would insist it was present before purchase though.

How are you financing it though? For me it was substantially cheaper to purchase a new car rather than a 2011 car.

Cheers guys, the dealer thought the same until he ran the quote, '11 plate car is <£25k, new car at £33k, and around £5k discount keeps the monthlies up a bit, and for me I just want something as a bit of a stopgap, I know she will be facelifted in a few months and not too bothered.

So I think Ill do as you say, insist windows are done and then pay the deposit !

Fair enough.

I am going PCP on my new BE next month (not long to go now, woo hoo), but did have a look at a couple of 2011 ones, as well as a new one.

I realise there is a substantial difference in purchase price, but with the extra owner, increased apr and everything it worked out about £75 per month CHEAPER to get the new one for me.

Wow, not sure how it works but mine was £50 more for a new one. I have found the perfectly specced car, just need to get the privacy glass issue dealt with and get the deposit paid. Bit of a stepdown from my TTS but looking forward to it all the same.

Same for me too, new cars built to my specification were cheaper than nearly new because of the finance incentive. No such offer on A4 at the moment though unless you want a Saloon SE.

Nice. Like the colour, and has a couple nice options.

Although, I am trading in my mutitronic because the fuel consumption with that box is poor, and I dont need it, but they do drive well. Get it mapped though. Sluggish without it.

The only resolution for not having the Privacy glass is to have them tinted. I've had mine done and it's good but not as good as Privacy.

The whole reason I didn't buy a BE was that the Saloon couldn't have Privacy, which when coupled with me not being keen on the BE wheels meant it wasn't worth having.

Deal is done and privacy glass is getting added as part of deal, when you say poor fuel consumption what sort of figures are we talking ?

"Mapping" as you call it sounds good to me, I am inexperienced in this field as I normally just buy high performance cars, can you give me an idea of what is required, i.e what product and what this entails ?

Cheers

I averaged about 40 mpg in mine over 13,000 miles before I finally decided to get shot because of that. I could put up with that figure if it was quattro, but not for a gearbox. But, because the new ones were cheaper than 6-month old cars, for me, I ordered a new quattro BE whose engine is meant to be much more economical. I still don't expect to break 50 mpg average though. I also had a new one of these older ones ordered initially, but they never told me about the new ones coming out. In the end, I got a new one for a fiver a month more than the old shape. Both brand new, unregistered, but the old shape one was white, whereas the new one is phantom black.

If it hadn't been for the quattro in the Audi, I probably would have gone for a BMW though.

I'm talking about ECU remapping, and there are many places that do this such as Revo, Superchips etc... It basically flashing the stock ECU with new programming so that you car get more power and better fuel economy. It used to be done through just the OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) port, but in your case it will likely need the ECU removed to be done. Should gain about 40 BHP and roughly the same torque, and if you drive it normally, can get you improved MPG.

My next car will be a black edition Ibis White A4 avant but the current style as not keen on the new lights. I ideally want Quattro. However I think finding that may be difficult., Anyone have any insight as to how many have ever been ordered?

Thats the exact car I originally ordered when I went into Audi. They had a brand new one at the time sitting in the country and was only gonna take a week to come through.

Then there was a couple between the local dealers up here at about 6-8 months with a few k on them. But as I have stated before, I was cheaper getting a new motor than them ones. Plus the better engine technology in the new motors made me decide to go for one of them.

Pop into Audi though, they may surprise you and have one available.
