My haldex wasn't working when I got my car 6 months ago and still not got round to fixing it so how many others are running about without the haldex working?

Why would you want to 'run around' with out haldex working?

How come yours doesn't work?

I'd start with checking the wiring and plug connection. Just above the rear silencer heat shield. And the earth on rear passenger side above rear level sensor.

I killed my car doing that
ripped the dog bone mount clean out and broke a drop link and a drive shaft
if your running reasonable power I wouldn't recomend it
to much power at the front wheels
I would never do it again

Sh!t, never knew it could cause that many issues... I was driving round with a collapsed top mount for ages and the play in the top mount kept throwing up the ABS light and putting it in 2WD. Wanted to do the topmounts at the same time I fitted my coulovers (didn't see the point in having the suspension off twice!) but AP decided to take 4 months wtf:!?) to deal with a warranty claim so just dealt with it and was still giving it some **** in 2WD for those 4 months.

Thankfully the only side effect I appeared to suffer was an unevenly worn tyre due to the tomount (and a bit of a sketchy drive!) but by the sounds of things it's best you get it sorted asap and just drive very carefully until then.... Unlike me!

Well, like an A3 just a lot slower.

An S3 with no AWD must be terrible to drive, get it sorted ASAP.

Drives fine without it. Just hopeless in the wet. I will be fixing it when I have time anyway. Would have done it by now if I never had to swap the engine.

Actually, an S3 with the haldex not working is a quicker machine, specifically on the move going through the gears! And in the bends, you can actually use the power to pull you round the bends without the rear wheels pushing the car into understeer. Think LCR with a shorter gearbox, and shorter wheelbase, but carrying an extra 150-200kgs of ballast over the rear wheels.

Fun to drive, but in stage1 power, too much torque going through the front wheels, maybe a set of sticky tyres would have made a difference.

Yeah. If it was terrible to drive I would have had more motivation to sort it. Your right about the torque though. Wheelspin at 80 in 4th when the roads are slippy. In the dry it's fine unless your pushing it off roundabouts etc in the lower gears.
