these are'nt no, but the square ones are being worked on now. they will be slightly dearer but not much more hopefully

They`re the early ones of the 07K905715F so could possible be fine. Westy used the early ones too and they were fine but think his were in the middle somewhere where as the C`s are the very early coils.

I have failing coil packs on my car. Do audi still do the recall?
Then i would like a set of these, So i could save the new stock ones . Ive seen diffrent coil pack part numbers mentioned ... Which is best suited? Price and performance combined i mean.

I don't see why not but I assume you are buying them second hand as VAG would be selling you the F's in which case you have to ask... why are VAG selling f's and not D's ;P

As far as I know they are still swapping them out... its something I plan to do when I actually remember to call them and book in...

I am using 07K 905 715 F... these are black... 06E 905 115 E are the red versions and are the TFSI versions... the others which are TSI are 06H 905 115 have a rubber sheath covering most of the coil and in my experience seem tighter to fit...

There are rumours suggesting the TSI ones aren't as good as the TFSI ones but as seems to be the case there is no hard evidence either way...

I would stick to the TFSI ones personally...

I think I'll buy these as they are tfsi ones from Audi s3 2.0t.

I will try running them without adaptors on my apy first but my brother is machining adaptors next week

The 06H TSI ones have been known to crack with the INA adaptors, and they're no-longer recommending their use for these conversions.

You have an APY mate... Paul has an AMK/BAM... Audi are only changing push down packs

Today was my first full day of driving with the TFSI coils and I have to say things do feel smoother! Idle and part throttle traffic pull aways are smoother.

Cant wait to fit mine, Only the chap said one was faulty so he ahs sent me another he picked up from ebay for an S3 TFSI also.

Only thing is.. 3 end with D and the replacement ends in F. :/ Im guessing one is just slightly newer?

Yeah you`ll have one nice new F and 3 old original D`s. They`ve gone through about 2-3 supersessions to get from D to F and im not sure what changes have been made. They`ll still work but who knows how long the D`s will last.

I have D's and they've apparently already covered 15K miles, we'll see how long they last.

The idle is slightly smoother.

Wouldnt say prone to failing as in you`ll put them on and within a few days they`re dead but they will be the ones VW/AUDI have replaced under the recall im sure so its just a matter of if and when.

You won't get the TFSI coils changed on the recall as they are not the right ones for your car ;P

Lets face it, these things can and do fail... I don't spend any time in the forums with TFSI engined VAGs to know if its a major issue but they do revise parts for other reasons than they are prone to fail...

Westy, Mine have done 28000 Miles. One is failing, dnont know milage of the newer one.

Get NGK's... Bosch Super 4's aren't fantastic... ran them for a while but was having the odd missfire so put NGK's in...

BKR6EIX (iridium) from NGK Car and Van applications Petrol Engines are £5.90+vat each... the std plugs are Platinums (PFR6Q) and are £7.32+vat from the same site...

Both are designed to last longer in between changes... I use iridium's as they are relatively cheap and less likely to foul due to the smaller area of the electrode... I still change them more regularly but you could just go with coppers if you wanted to change them every 10k or so... MPG is supposed to be improved using iridium/platinum over coppers...

I use BKR8EIX's in mine (cooler plugs than std)... 6's are fine for your car...

Did you open the gap on the plugs because I think thats where the extra power comes from, all the coils allow is for you to open the gap up without misfires on boost. I was told due to emmisions vag has made the coils spark stronger for a more complete burn.

By cooler ones you mean the 6's or 8's? I use 8's as I have a big turbo conversion and best part of 400hp... you only need 6's (which are hotter in the plug heat scale)

Gap wise there is discussion of opening the gaps to 1mm using the TFSI packs but tbh the std gap is 0.85mm so I have them set to 0.9mm which I personally think is a happy medium... running larger gaps on 20v coil packs reduced their life expectancy as they have to work harder to make the gap... 0.9mm works on mine and I have had no misfires even when running over 2bar of boost where the normal 20v's (the 3yr old ones I had) would have a hissy..

What do they mean when the talk about gap?

They are talking about the gap of the spark plug. The plugs we run have a gap of 0.8mm where the TFSIs have a 1mm gap. The larger the gap the bigger the spark.

The TFSI coils are made stronger then the 1.8T coils to run with 1mm gapped plugs. The general idea is that the larger the gap, the larger the spark, the better the combustion, giving more power.
