I always wonder if increasing the power on FWD makee lap times much quicker..
Did it feel asif it could take more without ridiculous understeer and lift off oversteer at 220bhp nick?
Jims RS is 300bhp, and 1250kg, so 240bhp/ton, and I think they have a quaife ATB as standard.
Mine is now 291bhp, and 1100kg, so 264bhp/ton, and also has a quaife ATB diff, so higher power/weight, with similar BHP figures for top end pull once aero comes into play.
Itâs a strange one with regards to the power, as a road car, on the typical ARBâs & coilovers setup most people run, it felt a fair handful with 220-230bhp, and you wouldnât have wanted much more. The engine far outweighed the chassis.
Now with all the suspension work done, the LSD, and the sticky tyres, it felt slow and desperate for more power, the chassis far outweighed the engine, even though the engine hadnât changed from the previous incarnation!
So in answer, yes, I reckon it could take LOADS more power without upsetting it too much, the ko3S was also very punchy with a big torque spike, which didnât help traction, whereas the new setup looks like itâs going to be incredibly smooth and just keep on pulling and pulling. Weâve also got the option to turn it down to actuator pressure using the EBC if needs be, around 260-270bhp, so I think itâs something thatâll be easily tamed.
On the ring there are lots of long fast open sections, so I think adding power will make a big difference, especially up âhorse power hillâ where previously we were flat out at 105-110mph, and the porsches were pulling 140+ due to their power
