HELP!!! :(

Unfortunately, my car locked itself with the only key I had in it. I attempted to force open the door by using a screwdriver and have bent the drivers door at the top and it now sticks out and is also scratched it in various places. Even worse I could not get in so had to smash the drivers window. Can anyone please help me find out where I would get a new drivers window? And also what to do with regards to the door eg replace or repair? Many thanks, any other advice is much appreciated.

Hi taylor what car do you have? I do know backdraft Motorsport on this forum have windows for a s3 8p2...
 
All autoglass companies will have the necessary window.

All dent repair companies will be able to sort out dents/scratches

You will find them all on the internet.

What puzzles me is how the car managed to lock itself with the keys inside ??

Perhaps you could describe the circumstances for us so that others do not fall into the same situation.

Knee against inside of door and a good tug on the top of the frame may do it. Depends how bad it is!
 
OUCH!

If it got to the stage of breaking the window, I would have thought about calling out RAC to come open my door. Hell of a lot cheaper than damaging my door and smashing the window.

RAC and AA both have the ability to open cars up.
 
anyone knows you cant get in a audi door with a screwdriver
 
hes prob hopeing tells him how he should have got in
so he can go find a nice audi to try it on
 
Based in cornwall, Its a 2004 a3 3 door 2.0 tdi. I arrived home and opened my door whilst the engine was running and shut it behind me to move a dustbin that was in the way of my drive and I must have hit the interior door lock switch right by the door handle as I shut the door somehow, resulting in the door locking whilst the engine was running. Obviously, I completely freaked out as it was the only key, My dad tryed to prise the door open using a screwdriver and manged to open up a gap, I attempted to to hit the unlock button using a stick but just couldn't get enough leverage on it. I realised the only way I would be getting in was through the window and so after a few hits with a metal rod I was in. I don't have RAC or AA cover and theres nothing to be suspicious of, I just made a stupid mistake. Thanks for everyone's constructive comments!

Taylor - it is now my responsibility to apologise to you for intimating that things may have appeared untoward.

Unfortunately, our cars are targetted so much these days that (apparently) strange situations conjure up many possible circumstances

In this situation I obviously had the wrong impression, and for that I am very sorry.

For future reference AA or RAC will come to your rescue, whether or not you have membership, provided you decide to join, and that will be cheaper than repairing the damage in this case.

I hope you can get your car sorted without too much unneccessary expense.

a3_sline :- I don't think it was necessary to post that dislike and would appreciate an explanation, preferably by PM ,so as not to affect this thread.
 
Smash the window, yes. But bending and ruining the door with a screwdriver so it leaks for the rest of eternity even after its been fixed??? Jesus!! :faint:

I cant see how anything managed to knock the interior lock button, its a tad high tbh & the location makes it highly unlikely unless there was a dog in the car jumping up.

That would be bad advice, bending the door out & damaging the hinge, thats expensive & will leak, window is about £100 I'd say, cheap price to pay.

Yeap totally agree there, lunacy way of doing.
 
I once left my headlights on so smashed the nearside wing mirror.........didnt help though.:) ended up having to let the spare tyre down, that did it.
 
and after you get it all repaired, don't forget to visit Audi and get a spare set made up, and leave them somewhere safe!
