Can of worms... Buy new economy or part worn premium?

but I don't think anyone on here would suggest that a Skoda was just as good as an Audi but for half the price.

i would. the quality of the engineering is the same.
take say a 03 skoda felicia, and compare it to the polo of the same year.
or an 04 octavia 1.8t vrs, and compare it to a 5 door a3 1.8t of the same year.

factor in the cheaper purchase price of not having to pay the audi badge tax makes them a good buy for the thinking person!

budget tyres wise.....
barum tyres seem very good.
cooper tyres also.
khumo, hankook, falken, nexen. dont think youd have prblems with.
ive had some gt radials and nankang in the past and i had no complaints about them.

id stay away from avons unless you like out of shape octagonal tyres making it sound like all your wheel bearing are ******? acceleras too seem to fall apart like a retreaded tyre.
also budget chinese tyres, linglong, triangle, wanli. theres a reason these are called ditch finders!!

ok im going to be one of the first to disagree with you mate my dad had a skoda octavia on and 04 and my sister has a 2001 and you can see they are cheaply made now dont get me wrong they are good cars ( i have to say that as my misses is from czech lol ) but they are no audi for build my brother has a vw passat 2002 so same year as mine and even he says the audi is nicer to drive and not as noisy on the passat and although all 4 cars are same engine mine will do a good 150 miles on a run more than theres go figger

the build quality is all the same. but say the skoda and seat theyre engineered/designed to be under vw and audi in terms of touchy feely stuff sound deadening stuff, suspension damping, steering feel. ect.

the passat you mentioned theyre the same basic car as an a4. just the dampers are weaker, springs a bit softer. not as much sound deadening. but theyre engineered that way. build quality is just as good.
bet theres something wrong with your mates passat if theyre both driven the sameway and theres that much difference in mpg on a tankfull.

doesnt mean theyre not good cars tho.

oh dont get me wrong id by a vw any day or a new skoda too some are really nice but its the nasty plastic inside them that puts me off but in saying that the 2009 merc i had this mth was like getting into a vaxhall vectra so id not like that ether lol

What size? And where did you get that price?
