"Your cambelt needs doing" phone call.....

So on friday afternoon I got a lovely phone call from Audi MK reminding me that my cambelt is due a change as my S3 is coming up to 5 years old. It's on 21k miles!

I wasn't aware of this as Audi managed to lose the service schedule so i've got a replacement which gives you no information on service schedules for the vehicle.

Can anyone tell me how often the Haldex needs oil & filter on the S3 8P2?

Haldex is 20k, they say filter every other change but for the price i would do it anyway. You have to tell the Zoo keeper to tell his monkey or they will not do it.

They sent me a letter telling me mine was due on the 3.2 once but it hasn't got one (belt)

I though Haldex oil was 40k miles.... They changing their minds on everything! Well my Haldex oil hasn't been done yet. Guess I will sort it at some point. There is always something

Where did you get it done mate? How much did it cost? Any problems?

Was that done at a main dealer? Would you mind letting me know what it cost?

I had mine done at Bath Audi £390 all in with water pump however I do have family who work there so sort of friends and family rates...

No problems though, they changed the auxiliary belt too but I assume thats all included in the price quoted for a cam belt.

its weird how Audi say 5 years but VW is 4 sorry completely random just struck me as odd

It should have been done a year ago according to the owners manual - 4 years or 60k miles

Gearbox is 40k, Haldex 20k

Haldex is 40k miles and gearbox should be lifetime - there is no service schedule for the gearbox oil however there is no reason why you can't change it say 80k miles.

I got my cambelt / water pump done recently at an independent, after 5 years and 50k miles. I think the book said 8 years, but that seems rather too long a time to me...

I did think Haldex was 40k miles....

I called Audi to ask about the cam belt change for my Jan 2008 (07 model) A3 (TDI DSG) and was told 4 years/60,000 miles OR 5 years/75,000 miles but they couldn't be sure which! Um?????

My A3 has done 59,000 and 4 years, so I'm now not sure if it is due or not! Rather wait another year if sensible...?

According to our records cambelt is 60,000 miles, Haldex oil and filter 40,000 miles, DSG oil change 40,000 miles.
