Come on lads let's all have it on April the 1st think of the pics, vids and awesome documented thread we could make of itthere will be so many variations of s3/a3 it would be interesting to see how each one does stat wise

Make it a week later and I'll be all over it! Might even treat my self and remove my back seats, don't tell mum, naughty! . . To be fair tho, I get back in the country on the 6th and have to: fit coilovers, new discs/pads/tyres, service and generally sort her out after being sat for 6 cold months (and get over jet lag/massive 6month hangover). Keen to get on in already tho!

Anyways, do we have a verdict on you catastrophic engine failure yet or have I missed the boat on that one? . .

I've been driving in the last 2 months S3 8P and B7 2.0tdi 170 Quattro. Basically during a week 3 days S3 and 4 days My A4.
I don't think it is worth comparing both cars when it comes to acceleration/speed but focusing only on Haldex and Torsen.

A4 is a bigger car, feels heavier, steering is slower etc.
S3 much quicker in steering and feels lighter (probably because is).

Still I can go through roundabout (straight on) in my A4 quicker without losing any grip when in S3 *** will be kicking it out in the middle of the roundabout and then front when you get out of it. If I compare S3 with my previous FWD A4 B6, 60 plate A6 or even my focus on coilovers, it still has more grip when you change direction rapidly (roundabout left, right, left) and you can push it much earlier getting out of the corner than a fwd car.
So IMO even with loss when it comes to power/weight ratio it is worth getting a quattro. Doesn't matter if it's torsen or haldex.
With haldex you might have more fun than with torsen but with torsen it will be more focused on getting through the corner.

OH and btw.
When I talk about roundabouts I mean the ones in Milton Keynes, dual carriageway ones.

not long tho
will post all the gory details
and brave all the I told you so's
asap

this is so fkn pointless, jardo you're making yourself look retarded in your argument.

its near impossible to compare 2 different cars, it would need very similar powered/power-weight/power delivery cars and rigorous testing to determine what is 'best'
even if that did happen, once cars change useage/powers/setups, the conclusions change to suit that particular car.

its not even worth starting, because there is no answer.

its a fkn road car at the end of the day, if anyone thinks they need fwd or 4wd because 'its what a racecar uses' is a COMPLETE imbecile!

Karl, he'll just come back quoting some figures from Prawns car because he can't seem to go 2 posts without mentioning it!

exactly, very predictable. and such a poor comparison to back up a never ending argument.
this is worse than the 'i want to run a dump valve so it goes TSSHHHHHHH' threads!!

Quit bumming each other, brown isn't a good color on you pair. What's all this about quoting Prawns car?! Stop being girls about it, my own car had more power than his did with a K03 anyway!

My argument is structured and valid, you guys just don't want to hear it. There hasn't been a structured counter to any of my points which have been made, because I'm right. The facts and figures are that a stage 2 A3 is faster than any stock turbo K04 in both 0 to 60 times and all the way up to the gearboxes max, that's a fact which has been proven. So inherently, in the hands of a half decent driver it should be quicker in all but the most extreme conditions regardless of road or track.

How am I making myself look retarded by saying that? I've never once made reference to the over all drive, I've never said the A3 is a "better" drive. All I've said is that in a performance perspective the A3 is a faster car when both retain stock turbo's...

Structured and valid.... hummmm....

Not really much of a comparison when you compare a lighter tuned car to a heavier std car... power to weight will play a part no matter what... you only have to have a tuned Lupo up your chuff to realise that...

How am I making myself look retarded by saying that? I've never once made reference to the over all drive, I've never said the A3 is a "better" drive. All I've said is that in a performance perspective the A3 is a faster car when both retain stock turbo's...

Contradictions like this... the previous paragraph you are stating a stage 2 A3 is quicker than a std S3... which of course it should be but then you conveniently miss out the fact of a tuned A3 being quicker than a std S3 in this last sentence...

A std AGU 150hp A3 will get left by a std APY 210hp S3...

This has been fun while it lasted and even the mods have pitched in... but it stops now..
