Mounting bluetooth module under passenger seat

Sorry I know this gets covered a lot but I really have read every thread on here relating to this and I'm still not sure how to do this so any tips would be appreciated!

I'm fitting the standard Audi bluetooth into a 58 plate S3 Sportback - microphone, connections to stereo and routing the cable I'm pretty sure I've got sorted it's just the location/mounting of the bluetooth module that has me stumped.

From everything I've read it seems that the "correct" location is under the passenger seat and I have seen a "plastic case" mentioned that it is supposed to mount to. Can anybody give any more details - I can't see anything to mount it to under the seat, I have no "plastic case" and if you just sit the module on the floor under the seat then the seat hits the module when you pull it forward.

I believe that if you remove the carpet under the passenger seat there will be a cover plate that can be removed and the BT unit should sit in there. The plastic box you mention is supposed to fit tight but I would have thought bubble wrap would work !

Thanks Mike. I was afraid it might involve taking the carpet up since I can't see any other way it would fit. I've just done a bit more investigation in the dash and I reckon it should fit quite snugly under the sat-nav so I'm going to try that first and go with the carpet lifting as a last resort.

I just fitted mine to my sportback two months ago, hardest part is feeding the the microphone wire up to the corner of the A pillar(I ended up using a blunt dinner knife to push the trim towards the outside of the A pillar and theat created enogh of a gap to get it thru)

My loom wasn't long enough to get to the seat if you remove the foam insulator in the passenger footwell(above the tops of your toes if you were sitting in the passenger seat with your legs stretched out) it fits quite well there with some no more nails tape on one side to fix it to the pastic frame.

I researched it ad nausem and as far as I could see there is not enough room in the A3 dash for it(there is behind the A4 glovebox)

What type of aerial did you get?

Mine's a wire so not so delicate

Thanks Paul - your approach couldn't be more different to mine!

I removed the glove box, the A pillar trim and the card holder thing and then managed to fit the bluetooth module vertically behind the sat-nav. Running the cable was the easiest bit. Mine has a fixed antenna which is a shame because otherwise it would have fitted underneath the satnav which would have been better.

Coding it was a bit trial and error (it was way too loud and I had no phonebook initially) but it's working perfectly now so I'm happy. Local car audio shop wanted 450 quid to supply and fit so it was definitely worth a bit of messing about!

I took some pics - I'll put them up later in case they are of use to anyone.

That's good to hear as I'd prefer to put mine behind the rns-e(when I get one) every other thread I read said there wasn't enough room.

I too had to remove the glovebox, check out my imageshack album it looks like a bomb went off in side the car!

running the mic wire is one of the easiest things to do... just take off the glove box and remove the sill around the top of the door allowing you access to the area behind the A pillar. i can run wires down the side of the A piller in 5 minutes when i am fitting in the bluetooth or auto lights install.
i tried to get a bluetooth behind the rnse once but could not get it to fit so i just fitted in above the glovebox.
