I'm starting to plan out the engine work and have been thinking about whether it will be easier to remove the whole block and not just the head! The reason behind this is that the gearbox is coming out to do a clutch and flywheel change so would it be easier to remove the block to do the rods and fit the new cambelt kit?
I'm thinking about removing the front of the car and bringing the whole engine out the front. I have access to an engine hoist and an engine stand so working on the engine will be a lot easier.
If anyone with the experience could comment as to whether this sounds like an easier alternative to leaving the bottom end in place and just dropping the box and removing the head. Also any other little jobs that might be worth doing with the bottom end out eg. replacing engine mounts, cleaning & painting the block.
Thanks in advance.
